DIABLO VAZQUEZ
With a renegade flow applied to a brass knuckle beat, Diablo Vazquez is an
authentic new artist who produces, writes and performs music that is, as he
describes, “the true essence of Hip Hop’s foundation…originality.”
As a DJ at the club scene, Diablo learned about how people feel music, and
he spent six years working parties and developed an insatiable appetite and
reputation for creating crowd pleasing experiences and evolved to creating
original beats for countless mixtapes featuring local rappers.
When he scheduled time to record mixtapes, he found that many of the
expected emcees would not show up. To complete the sessions, Diablo
would be called upon to fill in verses, “I wasn’t trying to be an emcee, I didn’t
want to compete with the artists who were depending on me for the beats,”
Diablo says. “But they insisted on having me feature on the song with them.”
When deejaying at the clubs, he would slip in some of his own songs without
letting the crowd know it was his music. “When I found that the response was
as strong as for the major artists I played, I knew something was there.”
Like a hustler to his money, he became addicted and gained recognition in
the streets by entering several talent competitions such as “Making the Next
Hit With Lil’ Wayne.” As a finalist, he caught the attention of many industry
reps as he shook the ground on which they stood.
