About Me
Music comes naturally to him, like breathing. He oozes rhythm, harmony, melody and grooviness. He literally breathes new life into every song he touches. When Kenyatta adds his signature voice to any piece of music, it’s sure to be a hit. “All I want to do is to make music,” Kenyatta said in a recent interview. “I’ve been doing it for years, but I’m falling in love with it all over again, every day.”
Daniel “ Kenyatta Fire” Terrelonge was born in a remote section of Bedward Gardens- Jamaica popularly known as Dread Heights, a community gathered by members of the Orthodox 12 Tribes of Israel and surrounded by August Town and Kintire. Throughout his childhood, he honed a musical talent that was said to be mystical in the eyes of members of the community.
Kenyatta’s career kicked off like so many others, free-styling with his crew on the corner. As the second of four kids, his musical influences were determined by “whatever everyone in the house was listening to.” It was a mixed bag, including Smoky Robinson, Sam Cooke & The Temptations. Singing on the mic at local sound system dances completed his musical education and it wasn’t long before he recorded his first track, ‘05’s “The Multitude.” Included in producer Justin ‘Jusbus’ Nation’s compilation, the tune announced the presence of a certified maverick within a business heavily populated by musical pioneers. After being schooled for some time in the US, Kenyatta acquired his bachelor’s degree in Civil Structural Engineering but this wasn’t the end for him. He was determined to make an impact with his hidden talent as well so that the entire world could be his witness.” My vessel was not at peace” he had mentioned in an interview explaining as to why he had wanted to pick up another career. In spring 2005 he unleashed the mystical sound which came forth his demo that hit both foreign and Jamaican streets with a vigorous nudge with versatile tracks such One Glock, Natural High and She Say.
As the newest artist on the block then, he gained respect from both young and old very quickly. Now it’s 2010 and he gives us a taste of dancehall at its finest with his latest track Keep Off My Enemies which is a favorite amongst all who have witnessed it. He makes us know that his ingenuity on his tracks is well calculated and aimed to define music at its fullest. Kenyatta Fire, young veteran soldier.
