EXCLUSIVE DOWNLOAD: How To Break Bad News Soundtrack

RCRD LBL and Virgin Books are proud to announce the launch of the soundtrack to Tim Molloy’s debut novel How to Break Bad News. The soundtrack, available for free exclusively on RCRD LBL, was conceived by Eric Steuer - of RCRD LBL band Meanest Man Contest - to celebrate the release of his friend (and former roommate) Tim Molloy's book, and was curated in collaboration with the RCRD LBL staff. It features a slew of songs by RCRD LBL acts such as Dirty on Purpose, Sam Champion, and CoCo B's, as well as bands like The Franks, Magic Me, and Eagle and Talon, who make their first appearance on the site.
Why put out a soundtrack for a book? Well, why not put out a soundtrack for a book? Movies, TV shows, and video games have them - so why should books get left out in the cold? Says Tim Molloy: "People complain about the Internet pulling people away from books, and this seemed like a perfect way to pull people back. The gorgeous songs on the soundtrack add to the spirit and emotion of the book in ways I'd never imagined. Some people will discover the book through the songs, and some the songs through the book."
If you're in New York this Thursday (April 9, 2009), join us for the How to Break Bad News soundtrack release party at Hugs bar in Williamsburg. RCRD LBL's Elliot Aronow and Sam Duke, and Meanest Man Contest's Eric Steuer will be playing DJ sets. It's a free event and details are below.
