RCRD LBL Weekend Playlist 04.08.11

Another week, another five days heavy with jams. This week, we saw showings from Matthew Dear, Alex Winston and a brand spankin' new joint from Donnis. Next week we've got tracks from Times New Viking and Junip. And hopefully between then and now, Spring will have officially sprung. See you on Monday!

We might dabble with the occasional silly play-on-words at RCRD LBL, but we're not here to play tricks on you this April Fool's Day. The Weekend Playlist won't be served up with Air Supply hits of yore or "Friday" by Rebecca Black. Instead, we're revisiting some of the great tracks we hit you with this week—XXXChange's dancehall rub down of TV On The Radio's new single "Will Do", Gold Panda magic and Veronica Falls' awesome output. Next week we've got showings from Matthew Dear, Holy Ghost! and The Weeknd. If you're being confronted with April showers, stay dry! We'll see you next week.

Do you hear that huge sigh of relief across the Internet? That's all of us at RCRD LBL HQ exhaling now that we're all finally well-rested from a manic week post-Austin. But we got nothin' but love for you, so we made sure to deliver fresh and tasty jams every day this week, as we would whether we our 8-hours-of-sleep-a-night normal selves or pushing through to a transcendental state while still tired from SXSW. We admit, new tracks from Bosco Delrey, Metronomy and Banjo Or Freakout, among others, got us in a good place and we hope they did for you, too. Next week, we'll hit you with some Gold Panda, YACHT and Dirty Vegas. For now, have a good one and we'll see you on Monday!

We can't slow down! From Jamie Woon to Toy Selectah, we've got a mix here jam-packed with weekend-soundtracking goodies. If you're in Austin, we hope that you came out to our throwdowns at the Purevolume House and the Austin Convention Center and having a killer time, in general. We'll be back next week Booka Shade and Bosco Delrey. Have a good one and we'll see you Monday!

From the virulent Tyler, The Creator and Hodgy Beats to the calming How To Dress Well refit of Matthew Dear's "Slowdance", our lifeline this week have been all the killer jams we've loaded up on since Monday. Here is a collection of a few of those tunes that have helped maintain the good vibes over at RCRD LBL HQ as we get ready for our big trip to Austin next week—don't forget to check out our events, as well as our awesome contest with Foursquare, where you can win an iPad 2. Also next week, we have a batch of Mad Decent numbers, a Mexicans WIth Guns collab with Freddie Gibbs and hip-hop's favorite uncle, Bun B and a brand new remix of Bear Hands by Andreas Lust to unleash. Have a good one! We'll see you on Monday.

Here is a round up of some of the stuff we rolled out this week, from fire by Gary, Indiana's Freddie Gibbs to Brooklyn-based dudes Mr. Dream's ferocity. We continued our RCRD LBL Mixtape Series with The Lonely Island, who we now know not only make us laugh but also dig a lot of the same tunes we do. Next week, we'll come in like a lion with Raekwon, Torro Torro and something new from Phoenix. Enjoy your weekend, be safe and we'll see you on Monday.

What can we say about this week? Tuesday we had strictly premieres, turning it from the least interesting day of the week to the most exciting one. That pretty much sums up the fire we're trying to constantly hit you with, whether it's never-before-heard brand new Moby to the new rock steez of Trouble Andrew. We also got hit with a plethora of tracks for different kinds of dance from moves from Mi Ami to Cassius, as well as two tracks fro Raekwon-affiliate Mean Doe Green. All those artists are congregated here, plus seven more of our favorites from this week. We're anxious for we're going to hit you with next week—Freddie Gibbs, Royksopp and brand new Kill Rock Stars signees, Milagres, to start. And while that's enough to whet your palate, we can't keep this a secret: We'll be continuing our RCRD LBL Mixtapes series with a new collection from comedy aces, The Lonely Island. Have a great weekend!

We've had a little bit of a rap drought at RCRD LBL, but this week the floodgates opened from all directions. Oakland-via-Panana's Los Rakas fired up the beginning of the week. Then we saw a Just Blaze production, an appearance from Kool AD from Das Racist, an answer to the question, "When's 50 Cent going to rap again?" and the strange restyling of Lykke Li's "I Follow Rivers" from Odd Future's Tyler, The Creator. Cut Copy and Kisses, among others, rounded out the week, as well, and we couldn't be happier with all of it. Next week, we've got dueling Valentine's Day playlists—one for the lovers, one for the fighters—and a brand new track from Moby. We can't wait.
