VIDEO: Jacques Renault - Bad Skinned

Disco music and slo-mo shots of New York City life are well-loved film buddies, so when making a video for “Bad Skinned,” the lead edit from Jacques Renault’s contribution to the RVNG Of The Nerds series, we’re not surprised Strange Baby and Brian Close (Lifelong Friendship Society) decided to just follow a guy with an umbrella around Manhattan, film a bunch of stuff, and then slow it down and chop in some disco lights to make it work. Check the clip above and if you’re resourceful, you can probably track down a copy of the sold-out, limited edition 12” from the RCRD LBL signee somewhere on the internet (we just snagged our copy from Turntable Lab).

VIDEO: 77Klash - Mad Again feat. Johnny Osbourne

Our favorite late-spring heater—77Klash’s “Mad Again”—has finally got a clip to go with along with it and damn if it looks like we missed one hell of a green-screen party. There is LOTS of dancing, grinding, dudes leaning back, girls, tons of bright colors, two-seven in a suit being all straight-faced, and the legend Johnny Osbourne popping in for his hook. Where was in this in, like, July?

FEATURED: Morgan Geist On FADER TV's "Studio Time"

We’ve been spending some evenings with the break-room techno of Morgan Geist’s forthcoming album Double Night Time (out Tuesday through Environ), so watching this FADER TV in-the-studio interview with him was good because we got a glimpse of his modest bunker studio and learned stuff like how he wrote the album with QuickTime sounds first and how sadness and happiness are really sort of interchangeable in pop music. Actually, we already knew that second one. We already knew he rocked a shiney dome, too.

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Making Eagles Of Death Metal's 'Heart On'

It’s Friday evening. If there’s anything bumming you out tonight, you can listen to the devil garage blues of Eagles Of Death Metal and afterwards you will probably think even breaking a television sounds like a good plan for the evening. That is power. EODM have a new album coming out October 28 through Downtown Music called Heart On and we have an exclusive visual look into the making of the record, a series of four in-the-studio clips that have a lot of new song snippets and pontification on the debauchery of Los Angeles from main man Jesse Hughes. Watch them above and after the jump along with some freshly announced tour dates, including current dates with The Hives.

The Gay Blades' VIDEO THRWBCK: Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun

The most disturbing part of the "Black Hole Sun" video isn't the stretched, distorted faces or the little girl dripping creamy liquid out of her mouth. Its not the John Waters infused coloring set against the frighteningly dark subtext. And its not the dirty hippy messiah's mustache. Ya know, even Chris Cornell's Punisher shirt isn't really that bad. The single most disturbing part of this video is the fact that as a kid, I had no fucking concept that this video was disturbing in anyway, shape or form. This video is totally fucked. Why would anyone create something like this? Why? - The Gay Blades

VIDEO: The Subjects - Goldenshire Boogie

While this song from Brooklyn’s The Subjects is a pretty light, back-porch affair—think Band Of Horses with brunch reservations—the video is shot entirely amidst an auto junkyard, spliced together with some quick “now they’re here, now they’re not” cuts, colorful shapes floating across the screen and the dudes just truckin’ through the song as if nothing at all is going on. Simple stuff for these Monday mornings. You can grab “Goldenshire Boogie” on a split seven-inch they did with The End Of The World over at Pretty Activity and catch the band live this Wednesday, September 10, at the Mercury Lounge in Manhattan.

Before the MDMA stopped working and ravers got all sweaty and terrifying, I'd like to think it was kinda like this: A guy puts on a track at a record shop (probably where these guys actually worked) and all their buddies rush in and have a silly great time. Then, they jump in jeeps and drive out to the forest to continue their rave and be in nature away from their crappy village, all the while mugging the camera and making ridiculous faces. Aside from the amazing dancing that the guy does when he jumps over the counter, I also really like the girl in the red sweater who isn't being so goofy but actually "feelin" the piano-riff 'ardkore anthem. It's all so light-hearted and positive that it's inspiring.
