Deep in the heart of 2002 came a warm glow from a genre called screamo. Now lampooned as Hot Topic wastewater, this was actually music of great merit and skill in its heyday, providing us with classic bands like Saetia, Drive Like Jehu and, dare I say it, early Thursday. It also brought us The Saddest Landscape, a band that went in and out of existence for many years before solidifying a comeback in 2010 with the release of full length You Will Not Survive on Panic, as well as a fabulous split with Pianos Become the Teeth on Topshelf. Here we have for you a cover of Dinosaur Jr.'s "Raisans" originally featured on a Pastepunk compilation. It's a cleaner take on J Mascis' boozy vocals and deliciously heavy guitar, swapping a punk vibe where Dino's got jam-happy that still carefully preserves the raw quality that makes the original so great.
