Scion A/V Presents: Steve Aoki & Armand Van Helden - BRRRAT!

STEVE AOKI & ARMAND VAN HELDEN - BRRRAT

Two of the most important people in dance music, Steve Aoki and Armand Van Helden concocted the frenetic, peak-hour soundscape that sets the tempo for Ace Norton’s dystopian nightmare rife with metaphor.

Scion A/V just released a free BPM counter for your iPhone. Download it here, and check our pal Blu Jemz explaining it (with the Surkin remix of Nacho Lovers’ “Acid Life” from our Scion comp in the background!)

Fool’s Gold Remixed Vinyl

Our promo-only Fool’s Gold Remixed 12″s finally arrived in the house house house. Four of the biggest tracks off our Scion A/V compilation from this past fall on one thick slab of vinyl: Chromeo’s funked up take on Treasure Fingers’ “Cross The Dancefloor,” Surkin’s choppy version of Nacho Lovers’ “Acid Life,” Rusko dropping dubstep bombs all over Kid Sister’s “Pro Nails,” and Jori Hulkonnen’s hypnotic, techy remix of Kid Cudi’s “Day ‘N’ Nite.”

This is a limited, one-time only pressing for friends, fam and assorted DJs, but we were able to get a few copies over to Turntable Lab, so cop it while you can!

Fool’s Gold CMJ Wrapup

We threw our 2nd annual CMJ showcase (and one-year anniversary party!) this past Thursday at Webster Hall in NYC. There was much cake, revelry and tunes from the crew, here’s the photo galleries and related linkery:

- Driven By Boredom photos (whole show / Kid Sis / Voice selects)
- Last Night’s Party photos
- Behind-the-scenes glamour shots (and Q&As) from Metromix
- Prefix Mag photos (more on Flickr)
- End-of-night foolishness captured by Nicky Digital
- NY Times story on CMJ merch w/ Kid Sis tee

My personal highlights include Nacho Lovers playing Circle Children’s “Zulu” while giving Armand a pound, Gant-Man’s epic hypeman skills keeping up with Kid Sister’s set, Dave1’s extra dapper suit, and of course being able to rock with practically the whole FG fam (Nachos, JOTS and Trackademicks stuck around all CMJ weekend so we’ve been handling photo shoots and meetings alongside late night ridiculousness and more food than I’ve ever eaten in my life. Call me Nick Fatdubs). Special shout-out to Scion for sponsoring the show and to Kenny and the whole Webster Hall team for making sure our champagne glasses were filled up.
