Das Glow "Lite Brite" (Strip Steve remix)

After three records, we're starting to get a sense of who Das Glow is. Originally a jeweller, Damien Granier turned to music when he discovered the French Touch, Bpitch Control and German minimalism. His introductory salvo, Weiss Gaz, was one of the most unique-sounding electro record to date, and it attracted the most diverse and enlightened following, from Simian Mobile Disco to Boys Noize to Miss Kittin to MSTRKRFT.
After much touring and remixing, Das Glow came back with Sunburnt, a new attempt at building funk machines from tangled drum patterns, dismantled mech parts and faulty systems. When I Want To Wake Up With You appeared on Alan Braxe's famed Vulture imprint, the dance world discovered that in Das Glow's avant-garde chest beat a heart capable of turning a Boris Gardiner sample into a gorgeous homage to the original French Touch, complete with emoting filters.
Then came his remix for American synth-wavers The Faint, which went at the track so hard and mighty that it became an Erol Alkan and Boys Noize staple and launched tons of requests for the "Das Glow sound".
In Das Glow's imminent future lies Phase IV, an amazing new record which will once again redefine what we know about the man. For now, here is Lite Brite Remixes.
What's with the trend of self-revisionism at Institubes these days? Bobmo rewrites his own "Rock The" in his forthcoming EP, and here, right before revealing his new record, Das Glow whips out a new version of "Lite Brite", off his Sunburnt single.
The original was, as I said at the time, sweet, delicate and quirky, the sound of a perfect melodious morning being swallowed by a perfect bass storm and spit out as a perfect evening. "A Lighter Shade of Bright" is the dusky counterpart to this initial ray of light: a slow-moving, arpeggiated meditation, a viscous, mollassed funk piece.
Strip Steve is that French kid signed to Boys Noize Records and it's the third time he's shared a record with Das Glow, after their split Arcade Mode 7" and a Shadow Dancer single. He delivers a cut-up, swaggered-out reinvention of the classic Bangalter sound that manages to sound at once arrogant and laid-back, like some street urchin casually looking for trouble.
French newcomer Qebrvs offers a remix that sounds like a petulant child, jumping from bonus level to hidden lair before morphing into a hyperactive version of Sebastian.

You can buy it right here on Beatport.

And here's another treat: Das Glow's dj set from last week end in Antwerp, including many rarties and exclusive, among them --who knows?--- maybe of the new tracks from the fearsome Phase IV ep...

DOWNLOAD: Faunts - Feel.Love.Thinking.Of (Lemonade Remix) + Explain (Home Video Remix)

It seems like Edmonton's Faunts are equally interested in hearing others' interpretations of their music as they are in making it. Last year they released a CD of 14 remixes of earlier material; and now that album number three, Feel.Love.Thinking.Of, has had time to rest on store shelves they've commissed another batch of remixes. Like Faunts, Lemonade and Home Video straddle the line between electronic dance music and rock. Lemonade turn their cumbia fascination on "Feel.Love.Thinking.Of." and end up taking it seaside to let balmy guitar lines whip through listeners hair and rolling bongos provide the beat. Meanwhile, Home Video finds Radiohead in Faunts' "Explain," letting the tension build behind swelling synths and smoldering guitar lines. Now it's time for Faunts to step up to the remixing console.
Sounds like: Radiohead, Senor Coconut, El Guincho

Exclusive new RCRD LBL download: Miike Snow Vs. Peter Bjorn & John - "It Don't Move Me"

Like they did with Vampire Weekend's "The Kids Don't Stand A Chance," Miike Snow battle it out with Peter Bjorn & John's "It Don't Move Me," from the newly released Living Thing. Download it FREE on RCRD LBL!
Thrown in the bag is the trio's usual arsenal: pools of clubby synths and their syrupy friends, all wrapped tightly around the vocal like snug winterwear. The Miike Snow album doesn't hit until June 9th via Downtown Records, but you can hear it in full right now on the Miike Snow MySpace page!
EXCLUSIVE NEW STREAM: TV On The Radio - Shout Me Out (Willie Isz Remix By Jneiro Jarel)
.jpg)
When we first heard TV On The Radio was releasing a Read Silence Remix EP, based on their stellar album Dear Science, while we thought it would be a nice accompaniment CD, we assumed the remixes would never trump the originals. We spoke too soon. In "Shout Me Out," producer/remixer Jneiro Jarel of Willie Isz has flooded the originally jazzy track with hand claps, probing bass, woozy electric violin, and gauzy synths - creating a lush and danceable Animal Collective-meets-supernatural-sci-fi vibe. It's just like Saul Williams described Jneiro Jarel's music: "Otherworldly. Beats for hovercraft Saturdays. Makes an alien homesick." As for the rest of the remixes? You can buy the assortment on I-Tunes. Plus join TVOTR's mailing list or check their website to keep up-to-date on what's up next for the Brooklyn indie all-stars.
(Oh and if you were wondering what that melody of "Shout Me Out" reminds you of, it's Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers' "Running Down A Dream.")

EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: HECUBA - Sir (Lucky Dragons Remix)

Ladies and gentlemen, it gives me great pleasure to introduce you to HECUBA, one of the stranger groups I've had the pleasure to write about. The Los Angeles-based duo thoroughly smash up pop songs and string together remaining shards with wide-eyed glee. Their latest single for Manimal Vinyl, "Sir," is a shambolic tune whose chorus deconstructs 60's pop songs and is backed by a remix from cut n' paste duo, Lucky Dragons. Their version is more cohesive but still off-kilter, densely layered with vocal snippets and shimmering with sampled bells. If normal music is your enemy, HECUBA (and Lucky Dragons) are the friends you were looking for.

DOWNLOAD: Keith - Mona Lisa's Child (Alan Braxe & Fred Falke Remix Edit) + more

The boys of UK four-piece Keith wear their Brit rock lineage like a suit of armor, from which their less conventional influences peak out and help the band stand out. So while their last single "Up In the Clouds" features characteristic whiplash guitar lines and seething cockney vocals, their thrumming bass lines and jacked drums call to mind ESG and Can. Keith also look to dance floor masters like Moodymann and Liquid Liquid for inspiration, and have been remixed by French house legends Alan Braxe and Fred Falke. The latter's gorgeously retro remix of "Mona Lisa's Child" unleashes the band's intrinsic dance floor potential with widescreen tactics.
Sounds like: Primal Scream, Radiohead, Daft Punk

FROM MONUMENT TO MASSES - BEYOND GOD AND ELIVS (FELIX CARTAL REMIX)
.jpg)
From Monument To Masses are soon to deliver their long awaited third album since their previous remix album that came out two years before. They lead off with their first single "beyond god and elvis" and it's a long post rock journey. from monument to masses are one of my favorite bands on dim mak. If you like explosions in the sky, trans am, slint, godspeed this is right up your alley. As for this new single we got one of our own artists Felix Cartal, mix hell from Brazil and designer drugs from new york to do club remixes for "Beyond God and Elvis".
