EXCLUSIVE DOWNLOAD: White Denim - Goldie Locks

We have an incandescent new White Denim single for you today, entitled “Goldie Locks”, and we sincerely can’t think of a more graciously unhinged way to start off your morning. Like the demented bastard children of the Minutemen and the clan of degenerates from The Hills Have Eyes, White Demin unashamedly blast through the landscape with their searing mix of blues-y southern rock and shambolic post punk. “Goldie Locks” is the epitome of that sound, with its riff straight out of an old MC5 record, condensed and solidified to a couple minutes of unfiltered rock ‘n’ roll.

White Denim have a lot of stuff coming up, like a US and UK tour, a new EP entitled Let’s Talk About It, and the kind of British press reserved for the American bands that are about to blow up bigger than big. Check out their web site for more info and tour dates, and of course download their past RCRD LBL singles below!

EXCLUSIVE DOWNLOAD: MSTRKRFT- Bounce (Featuring N.O.R.E)

These days, the masked mad beat-griders MSTRKFT are prepping to stir up dance riots in every city in Europe. In the meantime, Dim Mak Records is releasing a previously unheard MSTRKRFT track featuring "N.O.R.E." for free download on their RCRD LBL blog.

And yes, by N.O.R.E., we mean Queen NY's N.O.R.E. aka Manual Noriega, aka Victor Santiago, the former one half of Capone and Noriega, and now solo artist who's legacy is digitally commemorated as a character in the Def Jam Vendetta video game. In other words, in case you couldn't tell by the sound, MSTRKRFT ain't messing around.

Check out more info at the Dim Mak Blog here.

FEATURED: George Pringle and RCRD LBL on CNET UK

Check it out, UK webcast CNET mentioned RCRD LBL while doing a piece on their show about our artist George Pringle, the fine young Londoner who makes spoken word anthems to post-teenage love and despair on her laptop. It’s great that George is getting loads of recognition, as her new record (the brilliantly-titled Poor EP, Poor EP Without a Name…) is set to drop this spring. Check out the show below, and while you’re at it download George’s RCRD LBL singles, if you haven’t already. And be sure to super check the way the host says "RCRD LBL". Just FYI kiddos, it's not said like it is spelled...

EXCLUSIVE STREAM: White Rabbits - Cotillion Blues/DOWNLOAD - The Plot/INTERVIEW

When we all came together to start RCRD LBL, the one band I knew we had to work with (before we had a BETA or even a name) was White Rabbits, who I heard shortly after they all moved to New York from Missouri in the summer of 2006. They won me over the first time I saw them play—something about the way their music thumped and swung and dangerously careened between being a perfect little soulful rock and roll maelstrom and falling apart under its own propulsive energy really got to me. They had that angry young man swagger of the Jam and Specials, matched with the pop precision of black American music from the ’60s. They also had great shoes—mostly Clarks desert boots and loafers. I guess you could say whatever image I had of a dudes being a "real band", they were it.

Since then, they've released a fantastic debut album Fort Nightly, played Letterman, toured non-stop and at some point, found time to record a new single that pays tasteful homage to the vibe of  Bob Dylan's classic "Rainy Day Women #12 and 35"—you know that whole Salvation Army band sound. It's called "Cotillion Blues" and we're premiering it here exclusively on RCRD LBL today and for a little after that too.

Singer/guitarist Gregory Roberts was kind enough to take some time to chat with us about how the song came to be and fill us in on various other Rabbit-relevant things. You can read that after the jump and also download their hit, "the Plot" using the links below.

Also, the Rabbits are playing a FREE show at BAM in Brooklyn this Saturday. Info is linked below.

Thanks to the guys and their crew for hooking this up. We're glad to have you on board.

VIDEO AND DOWNLOAD: Meanest Man Contest - Throwing Away Broken Electronics

Meanest Man Contest are back on the RCRD LBL tip with a new video for “Throwing Away Broken Electronics” , one of the cuts released on a super hot single on Gold Robot Records. Its powerful bass line and sound effects are very reminiscent of the glory age of ‘90s hip hop (think Pharcyde, etc). You can download the MP3 using the link below.

As for the video, it features the band doing what the do best: rapping, and dancing around with scantily-clad women with giant paper maché boomboxes on their heads. It was directed by Gregory Tuzin of  *ontheflyfilms, you can peep more his work using the link below. Hottttt!

FEATURED: Professor Murder on the Spin Mix

The good people at Spin Magazine linked to us in their monthly online download feature, The Spin Mix, specifically regarding the calypso post punk single generated by our faves Professor Murder, “Flex-It Formula”. We were sold on that track since the day we went to proudcer crew the Brothers' studio in BK to check out the demos, so it's great to see the Bros and P Murder getting some "big ting" recognition. Stay tuned for more tracks from P Murder’s exclusive Professor Murder on a Desert Island EP very soon....
