CONTEST: Win tickets to see Little Dragon at the ROXY in LA

We’re really excited for Swedish lounge-pop outfit Little Dragon to finally be coming Stateside. We’ve been spinning “Fortune” pretty much non-stop since it first came into our realm a few weeks ago, and now we have the opportunity to offer some tickets for you guys to win (we know—no need to thank us). The band are playing at the Roxy in West Hollywood, CA on April 4th (with guests Garth Trinidad and Jason Bentley), and we’re sure it will be a magical night to remember. We have two pairs of tickets for giveaway, and all you have to do is sign up for our mailing list if you haven’t already (email field on the right) and send an email to contests@rcrdlbl.com with “LITTLE DRAGON” in the headline. Winners will be chosen at random. Good luck!
STREAM: Carla Bruni - Those Dancing Days Are Gone
.jpg)
Carla Bruni has been making headlines recently as that First Lady of France (for real) but let us not forget that her primary scene is music, not world politics... And totally laid-back, jazzy, sultry, amazing music at that. “Those Dancing Days Are Gone”, from Carla’s first English-speaking album No Promises, sounds like her fellow countrywoman Charlotte Gainsbourg’s loungy jazz-pop: soft, sweet vocals, insightful lyrics. The best part is the soothing harmonies in the second verse—wait for it. Chills.
Stream “Those Dancing Days Are Gone” at Carla’s RCRD LBL page, and make sure to keep your ear peeled for more awesome music from her and Downtown Records…
VIDEO: Adam Green on the Culture Show
Check out this awesome footage of our favorite indie crooner, Adam Green, on the UK's Culture Show last week. So weird that the Moldy Peaches are getting so much posthumous hype off of the Juno soundtrack. Way to go Adam! We just got a copy of his new record Sixes and Sevens and it picks up where Jacket Full of Danger left off, i.e. folkie lounge act totally devoid of irony and possessing perfect songwriting. Awesome.
VIDEO: Adam Green - Morning After Midnight
Like all compelling artists, it seems like Adam Greem has disappeared down his own rabbit hole: with his new single "Morning After Midnight", we're greeted with the aural smorgasbord of Barry Manilow crooning, calypso drumming and big band brass sections. Even though it's obviously retro, it sounds so fresh next to the cookie-cutter, too cool for school indie bands we're so well aware of.
VIDEO: The making of Mark Ronson's Just
A few days ago we posted the newest Mark Ronson video, for this Radiohead cover "Just", featuring Phantom Planet frontman Alex Greenwald. He just posted a cool little making of featurette on YouTube, which is worth a gander if you're a real fan of lounge-esque, post-modern cover bands...
