Hey everybody. We're very excited to introduce our live recording label to you all. A little over a year and a half ago, myself and Mitchell Frank (the founder of Spaceland, the Echo and Echoplex clubs) decided that it was time to properly document the unique shows that happen at the Spaceland clubs.

For those of you who don't know the club, Spaceland just celebrated its 13th anniversary and for 13 years Spaceland events have been at the center of what I like to think of as  "the good music" in LA. Before I started this label with Mitchell, I was already a very big fan of the club and the bands playing there... I remember going to the secret come-back show for Weezer at Spaceland. The name on the marquee was "Goat Punishment" for the night but you could tell by the line out the door that night that no one was fooled...

To this day, the Spaceland clubs host musical legends' experiments, secret shows, and new bands on-the-verge of greatness. In fact, the first show in Spaceland Presents' history was Beck, Foo Fighters, Possum Dixon, and Lutefisk at club Spaceland. I think that it was a benefit for Lutefisk. They got their gear stolen or something. Brandon (aka Lutefisk) still plays the club today as Quazar and the Bamboozled and in his wife's band Gwendolyn and the Good Time Gang. Even as recent at this past December, Beck showed up for an unannounced show. It was a nice Christmas present for Silverlake/Echo Park (our hood)! Artists like Beck, Silversun Pickups, Quazar and the late-great Elliot Smith consider Spaceland their home and what really makes the club feel like home is the people that  come to and work at our clubs: They are fellow musicians,  fine artists, writers, producers,  film-makers and other creative folks. These amazing people are what makes playing shows at our clubs so much fun for bands. Our goal with this label is to do all of those fine people right by helping our favorite bands grow far beyond the walls of our club.

Anyway...so, this site is all about free downloads, right? Here it is: an monumental show that we recorded with Portland, Oregon's The Thermals on December 7th, 2007 at the Echoplex. The audience was drenched in sweat by the time that this song was being played... quite a show indeed!

Look forward to many more free downloads from us. We hope that if you like these you'll support the bands further by going to their shows, buying their t-shirts,  or maybe even letting them crash at in your mom's basement while they're on tour!
