PREMIERE: Still Going - D117 (Radio Edit)
.jpg)
My man and executive editor Carter tells me I write a wee too much about sexxx, but how can I not with the writhing, opium den haze, gypsy temptress boudoir, red-beaded curtain, solar plexus swiveling, bass disco house of superstar production team and New York nightlife invigorators Still Going? Gat damn, let’s get down to “D117 (Radio Edit)” and make it count. Make it work. Make some love; make a baby. And then take a nap and go for another round of sultry dance jams right here.
STREAM: Maya Jane Coles - Not Listening (DJ-Kicks)

Gat damn, Maya Jane Coles is a beast. A beautiful beast, but a beast nonetheless. Hailing from sunny East London and adorned with a breastplate owl tattoo that would make the gods weep, this small-framed DJ and producer makes massive house music. “Not Listening,” off of her DJ-Kicks comp, goes so deep it almost sounds little jungle-y to me, what with the dead man walking whispers and almost imperceptible tilt towards Amen breaks. Enough with the electronic geek jargon: all you need to know is that this is the stuff dank clubs were meant to play. And you too. So go on and buy the rest over at !K7.
STREAM: Lana Del Rey - Blue Jeans (feat. Azealia Banks) (Smims&Belle Extended Remix)

If self-proclaimed ‘gangster Nancy Sinatra’ Lana Del Rey really wants to know what throwing down is all about, then here's her 101 in Smims&Belle’s (two Foster The Peoples!) hard house-cum-dubstep revise of “Blue Jeans,” featuring Azealia Banks cutting anything that gets in her way. (Seriously, have you read her Twitter lately? Taking down T.I.? Girl don’t give a what.) Anyway, this edit keeps only the lusty stylings of Miss Del Rey moaning “gangster” over and over, stripping the song of the rest in favor of hyped-up bass, deck swipes, tech taps and dub builds. Weekend music (and gangster), for sure.
DOWNLOAD: Photocall - Flying Tiger Of Love

Regular readers may remember LA dance team Photocall from this Matthew Dear remix, where they essentially Twin Peaked the joint by rigging it with equal parts sex and swim. Now let us introduce you to “Flying Tiger Of Love”—a druggy house ride to Gotham City. Below (and digitally on Beatport and hard-pressed on Turntable Lab), drum pads, sky-high synths and diva vocals take us away in giddy style, much like the adjoining press pic, which shows the duo at what we’re assuming is the best senior prom ever.
PREMIERE: Kris Menace - Falling Star + Depeche Mode and Little Boots Remixes
.jpg)
Today with Kris Menace, it’s three bounces for the price of one – and they are all major 'floor-lifters. First, the beat-tastic premiere of “Falling Star,” a towering piece of ‘90s-infused German house and spacey teaser to upcoming album Electric Horizon. Next, two more from the big name selector’s enormous back catalog: a bumping refit of Depeche Mode’s “Fragile Tension,” now reinforced by slickly-produced bass burps, and a twinkly stunting of Little Boots’ “Crescendo,” which buries her angelic voice beneath a sea of samples and pop synths.
DOWNLOAD: Eli Escobar - Work It

Eli Escobar is the reason we love dance music. His output is always on a positive tip – nothing too serious, everything totally fun. “Work It” is a slippery alloy of orgasmic moans, housey keys and big bad bass. It screams, “Everybody, let’s hump this floor!” And the video, starring shaky clips of Madonna, Parker Posey, Eddie Murphy and flailing, strobe-lit kids from the ‘80s and ‘90s, is a play-by-play on how to do just that. Dither Down’s got the release right now, and if you are a good time (or want to have one), you will get it.
DOWNLOAD: Dances With White Girls - It's About The House (Cubic Zirconia Remix)

In this, as in any, time of year, you may ask yourself how is it that you got to this stage and really, truly, what’s it all about? Enter dance-thug-cum-sage and Philly pluralist Dances With White Girls with the answer that’s been hidden inside your gooey center all along. Duh, ‘It’s About The House,’ y’all! It’s about the floor, the bounce, the bass, the clap, the boom, the reverb, and the throttle. And with Fool’s Gold crew Cubic Zirconia’s panty-ripping remix, it’s also about the Detroit tech slap. Funky, life-affirming music ahead, and on the rest of DWWG’s single of the same name, out on Plant now.
PREMIERE: Riva Starr & Fatboy Slim (feat. Beardyman) - Get Naked (Dub Mix)

(Photo: Gualtiero Fisauli)
Riva Starr has enlisted dance staple (and creator of arguably the best music video, ever) Fatboy Slim and big beat boxer Beardyman for upcoming 2012 jam “Get Naked.” And before it drops there shall be remixes, including this flippant dub version, clapping with a marching drumline, distorted hypeman vox and rando sponge-stick bass. On Riva’s SoundCloud, every other comment on this fix is “Me gusta!” or “Yo!” and we can't dissent from those perfect exclamations. 'Cause it's heavy and hilarious and begs for a shouting audience. Keep an eye out on Moshi Moshi for that EP early next year—it’s also going to include a redux by house dude of all house dudes, Carl Cox.
