Here is a very incomplete list of performers who have recorded "Santa Baby": Eartha Kitt, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Everclear (?!), Miss Piggy and now Madison. The tongue-in-cheek Christmas wishlist jaunt, replete with requests for a sable coat, baby blue drop top and a little, lady baller palace (or, ya know, that's what I glean from the lyrics), is the perfect holiday tune for the NYC-via-Miami up-and-comer. Her sweetly sung coos over pop-techno are a sublime way to get you familiar with the jams she'll be releasing over a slew of EPs in 2011, start with The Noise Some People Make, on January 11. It'll also boost your spirits for the current holiday season whether you love Christmas, are on your Scrooge grind or don't even celebrate at all.
Softlightes Save The World!
Modular Records' own indie popsters, SoftLightes have a new holiday single out called "Last Christmas on Earth." It's all about the Earth dying and how us humans are messing everything up. You know, just your average cheery tune for the holidays! It comes out digitally on December 11 and all proceeds benefit the Sydney based eco-charity Earth Hour.
