Auckland, NZ band Luger Boa released its first album, Mutate Or Die, back in 2009, and the debut gained traction thanks in part to the fact that singer Jimmy Christmas formerly fronted the popular band The D4. The quintet’s second effort, New Hot Nights, followed in 2011. “Paralyzed" is a single from that album that showcases the group’s loud, glam-tinted garage rock. It's equally gritty and glittery, like if David Bowie fronted The Strokes.

St. Louis musician Kristeenyoung, who is currently opening for Morrissey on tour, penned her new EP, V The Volcanic, about supporting characters in films. “I’ll Get You Back" is a noisy, jangly glam rock number exploring a character in The Wizard of Oz. And no, we're not talking Dorothy. This one's about the Angry Apple Tree. The track forms an edgy, compelling cacophony of drums, piano and vocals, and the raw recording lends to the sense of unease. Think of it as a glitzy companion to tUnE-yArDs.

Ok, though their name may make them sound like a wedding cover band, at least there's little irony in it; DC-based The Dance Party crafts serious hook-heavy power zingers, unabashedly inspired by late night sing-along Journey songs, 80s glam rock and Bloc Party-esque builds. The catchy "Sasha Don't Sleep" is product of their collaboration with NY producer/engineer Andros Rodriguez (who also boasts Justin Timberlake and Ludacris on his resume.) Meanwhile, live, the band has the power hooks, looks, charisma, (not to mention fake-baked Brit-esque accent?) that could easily pack stadiums and get the kids to jump around. They ain't Fugazi, but DC represent.
Sounds Like: Journey, Def Leppard, Tears For Fears, Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand
