So, the first of two Coachella festival weekends starts, well, now, and there are tons of acts performing and a lot of choices to make. Even if you're going to be enjoying the festival experience from your own couch, each year's lineup is a solid snapshot of a wide range of important music. This year, we've already previewed dance and rock in specific, but how about a mega playlist of our favorite (more underground) acts from the Coachella universe? PLAYLIST: The Saguaro Desert Weekender
Hello Stranger and dF have partnered-up with RCRD LBL to provide you with a sacred space at the brand new Saguaro Hotel in Palm Springs this weekend! There's an amazing lineup (look at the flyer, will ya), and we've made a preview playlist with contributions from A-Trak, Brodinski, Tokimonsta, Nosaj Thing, Penguin Prison, DJ Harvey and much more. PLAYLISTS: RCRD LBL Dance Guide To Coachella 2012
The 2012 Coachella lineup has been touted as the most EDM in history, and that means great news for yours truly, who shall be spending every moment in the billion-degree dance tent hopefully being molested by sweaty, shirtless partygoers clamoring for pills, water, a spot near the speakers, or just a plain ole glowstick (they're back!). So I rounded up the pumped up jams of the acts I am most excited to see: from love-it-or-hate it mega DJs David Guetta and Girl Talk to scream machines Atari Teenage Riot to newcomer Gotye and consistently amazing 'old hats' like The Rapture, M83, La Roux and Miike Snow. Something for everyone here, whether you want to go hard, sway slow, or disco the night away. Enjoy my personal preview, and I'll see you there. Save me a glowstick, would you?
SXSW SUPERPOST: RCRD LBL In Austin

Next week, the RCRD LBL fam will be down in Austin for SXSW and we're super excited to announce all of our event jump-offs!
For you early birds we are doing a party with Turntable on Saturday night with Flying Lotus and Araabmuzik. RSVP here.
Then, we'll be rocking the Purevolume House on Wednesday, March 14 from 2PM to 6 PM with performances by Wild Belle (2:30), Hussle Club (3:00), Pond (4:00) and Mr.Dream (4:45). It's open to the public, just RSVP right here. It will be sweet and we'd love to see you out!
If you have a SXSW badge, you can come hang out with us the following afternoon, Thursday, March 15 for an all star panel chaired by our Creative Director Elliot Aronow. Elliot will be joined by Miss Info (Hot 97), music supervisor to the stars Scott Vener, Peter Gaston from Spin and Adam Farrell from Beggars Group. Together they will chat about "who to turn to discover new music in the time of the iCloud."

SXSW PLAYLIST: Indie

So far, we've given the genre warriors their own private guides with the best and brightest of rap, rock and dance playing SXSW, but what about the indie generalists? More than ever, the most interesting acts could care less about boxing themselves in, instead opting for sonics, songwriting and an organic approach to composition based on what feels natural. I'm not the biggest fan of calling this 'indie music,' but for lack of better term these are the must-see underground acts in Austin this year. From the shoegaze revision of Dive and Nite Jewel's weirdo pop to stark folk from Mirel Wagner, Nick Waterhouse's 45-obsessed throwback and the hip-pop of Chrome Sparks, the acts featured in this playlist are poised to take a big leap in Austin and beyond.

SXSW is probably the major fest least known for its stadium dance offerings, so it’s no surprise that this year's electronic bill is full of beautiful misfits. Therefore, it’s the slippery genres that can’t be caged – from lullaby house (d’Eon) and bedroom Casio (Com Truise, Javelin) to freaky R&B bass distortion (Pictureplane, SBTRKT) – that are repped in our 2012 preview. Rounding it out with rising stars like Grimes and Purity Ring or seasoned gamechangers like Matthew Dear and A-Trak only thickened this weirdo stew. So we just ran with it: every bite is wildly disparate and wildly danceable. Enjoy!
SXSW PLAYLIST: Rock
SXSW has arrived yet again. Yes, it's time for the music festival where we make schedules we don’t keep, drink a lot of free booze and usually come away with at least one new favorite band. Even as the festival sometimes seems to embrace hip-hop and pop artists nowadays (really The Fray is playing?), the rock genre stays well represented. From metal (Torche) to indie rock (Lost Lander) to tap-shoe rock (Tilly and the Wall), there's definitely something here that will make you bang your head, sweat and dance it off.
SXSW PLAYLIST: Hip-Hop
SXSW, Austin's gathering of the musical tribes every March, used to view rap as an afterthought. Yet after years of growing numbers and a breakout in 2011 with Jay-Z and Kanye West stealing headlines, hip-hop has definitely found its place in Austin. This year, there's a wealth of MCs and DJs hitting the festival, so we decided to highlight some of our favorites. From the real-talk street style of Meek Mill and next generation Houston rapper Kirko Bangz to ASAP Rocky's Harlem-meets-Texas style and Cadence Weapon's punchy, indie-friendly lyricism, check out our picks for what to see for your SXSW rap fix.
