MARK YOUR CALENDARS: First RCRD LBL Friends & Family Meet Up Is On July 14th!

Hey guys, do you want to hang out? That is essentially the impetus behind our first-ever reader meet up, set to take place Tuesday, July 14th, at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City. A purty flyer with all the info is above, but basically it's a free get together and listening session with music from our partners at Ghostly, Fool's Gold, and Warp, with additional selections from the RCRD LBL edit staff. Mark your Google Cals or whatever and be on the lookout for some specially curated playlists in the lead up to the event. Can't wait to see (some of) you there!

STREAM: Lusine - Two Dots + Ghostly 10 In Barcelona

(Photo: Nathalie Paco)
After rocking parties in New York last week, the Ghostly crew have set their sights on Europe, where on Thursday (6/18) they will host the Barcelona edition of their ongoing 10 Year Anniversary Celebration, presented as part of the city's Sonar festival. Lusine, Michna with Raw Paw, and The Sight Below will all play live, while Ghostly boss SV4 will handle DJ duties in-between sets. As a bit of a preview, they offered us a stream of the sublime new Lusine single, "Two Dots," which is available in all of its amorphous, heady existence below.

FEATURED: Ghostly + People Don't Dance No More Tomorrow In New York

Tomorrow night in New York, the two minds behind the ongoing People Don't Dance No More parties–David Bruno and Robot Blair–are linking up with Ghostly's Michna and SV4 for a night of dancing in the Annex basement. It's being billed as a send off for the Ghostly cats as they head to Sonar in Barcelona, so if you're around, stop by, drink some free vodka, and say bon voyage as the boys head to the land of tapas and Estrella. Jealousy will abound.
If you can't make it, there is a ton more PDDNM action going on this summer, including the just-announced Wurst Boat Party on July 2nd with Brennan Green and My Cousin Roy. Flyers for both are after the jump, head to the People Don't Dance No More site for more info on their happenings.
FEATURED: Flashing Lights Tonight In Brooklyn

New Yorkers: we've got good news and bad news. The bad news is that it's supposed to keep raining (a bit!) this weekend. The good news is that the weather can eat it, because, thanks to the minds at Flashing Lights and Mean Red, Brooklyn will see a proper warehouse party tonight. Deets are simple: It's 21+, doors are at 11, and music will be provided by Fool's Gold's Nick Catchdubs, The Rub's DJ Ayres, and Nightshifters' Jubilee, with special guest DJ Lauren Flax and a "secret" live performance from a certain Trouble & Bass member's live band. Full flyer with more info after the jump, RSVP and preview mix at their website, and if you're looking to get in the mood beforehand (or can't make it), catch Ayres on The FADER's East Village Radio show, The Let Out, tonight from 6-8PM.
CONTEST: Mister Saturday Night With Kerri Chandler And Rub-N-Tug

Piggybacking off the Capracara track we posted this morning, we'd like to inform you that Capracara remixers and general disco hooligans Rub-N-Tug are playing New Release's Mister Saturday Night party this weekend at Santos Party House, billed alongside New Jersey deep house legend Kerri Chandler. All pertinent info is here, but the gist is that Rub-N-Tug will be headlining the downstairs space, while Chandler is prepared to debut his new "holographic guest performers" while he DJ's the upstairs. Beatportal has some more info on exactly what that might entail, but knowing Kerri's knack for ridiculously crazy shit, our bets are on this being unmissable.
We're giving away a pair of tickets to the gig. To enter, sign up for our newsletter here, then email contests@rcrdlbl.com with the subject "MISTER" and we'll get back to you tomorrow if you've won. If you need your fix now, the Rub-N-Tug guys stopped by Tim Sweeney's Beats In Space radio show this week, where they took up the full two-hour slot and let slip that they're finishing their first full-length LP. Listen here. Full flyer for Saturday after the jump.

FEATURED: Third Installment Of Ghostly's 10th Anniversary + DEMF

Being the proper Michiganders they are, our pals at Ghostly have cooked up some special plans for Memorial Day Weekend's Movement Festival, more informally known as the Detroit Electronic Music Festival (DEMF). Audion, The Sight Below, Seth Troxler, and Lusine will all be repping the Ghost at the official proceedings, but that Saturday the label also just happens to be throwing their third 10th Anniversary party at The Magic Stick, with live performances from Deastro, Michna with Raw Paw, Telefon Tel Aviv, Tycho and DJ's Mike Servito and Tour Detroit. Full flyer after the jump, RSVP here, advance tickets here, and more Movement info here.
Deastro - Michael, The Lone Archer Of The North Shore
Michna - Triple Chrome Dipped (12" Version)
FEATURED: The Press Have A Release Party Tomorrow (03/06) In Brooklyn

A few weeks ago we dropped some new jams from the very awesome band The Press, and in that post we mentioned the band would be playing a special show in Brooklyn for the release of their new seven-inch, "Master". Well, those details have finally surfaced, and we can let you know that the show will happen tomorrow, March 6th, at 99 South 6th St. in Williamsburg. Things kick off at 9PM and there's an after-party next door at the Foosball-endowed East River Bar. Dubstep producer Nate Mars will be spinning. Full flyer after the jump.
CMJ: FEATURED: Day 2 (Thursday) Of The Levi's®/FADER Fort NYC

(Passion Pit / Photo: Diana Levine)
Yesterady at the Levi's®/FADER Fort NYC we caught some great sets from our buds in Passion Pit and Death Vessel and also managed to catch what was (we think?) the live debut of Tan Lines, the psych-dance-cool-island-jams project from Jesse Cohen of Professor Murder and Eric Emm of Brothers. The FADER has some great photos of all the action, and, as always, you can grab some free tunes from the bands that played (or sort of) below, including the exclusive Passion Pit remix we dropped in September. Also hit the jump for some more live footy from FADER TV's coverage, this time of Death Vessel closing out the space with a full band.

Film: AFI Music Documentary Series

The Arclight Theaters in Los Angeles are smack dab in the middle of the 7th annual AFI Music Documentary Series (running April 2 – May 7). If you’re from LA, you know that the Arclight Theaters are something of a mecca for movie lovers; comfy reserved seating, shorter previews, and a full bar all make it a top-notch place to catch a flick. In it’s 7th year running, the AFI Music Doc Series is screening an eclectic crop of new and old music documentaries to satiate your hunger for musical knowledge. The series kicked off with Glass: A Portrait of Philip in Twelve Parts, an in depth look at a year in the life of the minimalist composer. So far, the series has screened the Beatles Help!, the Red Hot Chili Peppers Untitled Documentary, and our personal favorite so far, Young@Heart (see our review here or better yet, just go see the movie).
