‘Hairdo’ by the Tall Firs is mellow indie rock bliss. It’s not bathed in daunting rhythmical arrangements. You don’t need a dictionary to understand it. (In fact, you pretty much ignore that he's singing about some ‘banging’ chick with a ‘happening’ hairdo.) Instead, you just sink in- appreciating Aaron Mullan's husky voice and unaffected, slurring American twang. You savor the easy guitar hook. When suddenly- in a cymbal crash- it’s over, you simply want to play it again.
