Mohawked CDJ destroyer Rusko will probably end 2010 as dubstep's first crossover star. He's already worked on Kid Sister's Ultraviolet and, we hear, the upcoming M.I.A album, but the 25-year-old British producer also has a debut solo LP called O.M.G.! dropping on May 4 through Mad Decent, with heaters (and special guests! Gucci Mane! Crookers!) in droves. New single "Hold On" bears the knee-weakening voice of Dirty Projectors' Amber Coffman, and here it gets a berserk, eyebrow-scorching rinse from drum and bass champion Sub Focus. Hold on indeed.
Here’s a reprise of last week’s Steve Aoki dance anthem “I’m In The House,” but it’s no compliment to the original. Brighton trio Qemists gets their hands bloody slicing with a nasty techstep whip, making this destroyer all their own. Forgive us in advance for unleashing this beast on a Monday morning and brace your ears.
Sounds like: Aquasky, Ed Rush & Optical
**Aiiiiiirrrrr horrrrrrrnnnnn** Italian maskedimalists The Bloody Beetroots finally get a proper drum and bass rinse in this unreleased version of Roborama's "Warp" from Portugal's DJ Oder. As if these dudes need to sound more rabid. Download it below courtesy of Dim Mak, and pick up the new Beetroots b-sides EP, Christmas Vendetta...Spares Of Roborama, on iTunes right here.
Ever wonder what would happen when a group of dudes with solid backgrounds playing in metal and punk bands team up with producers of drum & bass, breakbeat and hardcore grinds? The Australian-bred result is Pendulum; it's sonic blood and guts.....sheer bad-ass attitude bolstered by meticulously placed layers of sound. Take the mix of "Propane Nightmares" below. It sounds like atari video gaming music remixed with the works of The Prodigy, Does It Offend You Yeah? and MSTRKRFT. What the F*? Hard to imagine? Take a big big bulp and dive into the mix below. But just an FYI; it should come with a warning sign that says "This stuff can kill." Just the way we like it, eh?
Better yet, they should be coming soon to a town near you (check their myspace below for tour dates).
Sounds Like: Concord Dawn, Aphrodite, Does It Offend You Yeah?, The Prodigy
