The Raveonettes' In And Out Of Control was the dark horse of our 2009 listening–expectedly pleasing but unexpectedly something we returned to often, a transportive comfort zone of candied garage-pop. Here, its best cut is gutted and re-stuffed as bedazzled disco-house by Plant Music's kap10kurt, which is nice because now we know what parasailing with Mega Man would sound like.

EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Miike Snow - Animal (Crookers Remix)
While info on who exactly Miike Snow is/are remains nonexistent, we're still seeing some heavyweight remixes of their tune "Animal" come in, like this fantastic version from wobbly Italo house men Crookers. Instead of playing laser tag with their synth plug-ins as usual, Phra and Bot actually keep things pretty civilized here, wrapping that falsetto hook in layers of bubbly, pitched-down tom hits (no snares!), the faintest trace of Bmore hi-hats, and an octave-jumping synth that sounds like it's plunging the depths of the Caribbean. It could quite possibly be the most surprising--and best--Crookers production since "Embrace The Martian," their other duet with Kid Cudi, so hit the link below to grab this fantastic dancehall/house love child and check back next week for another remix of the elusive Mr. Snow.

EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Miike Snow - Animal (Treasure Fingers Remix) + Original Stream
No, your eyes are not deceiving you and I did not make a typo, Miike Snow really spell their name with two I's, making them possibly the most unGoogleable band of the moment (evidenced here, Illinois you're running a close second). Little is known about these guys other than the fact that they named themselves after Japanese cult film director Takeshi Miike, so their single "Animal" is our only source of info, a relaxed, beach-ready bit of electrolyzed pop that glides through its four-plus minutes on a bed of off-beat keyboard strokes. Our friends at Downtown roped in some great producers to version the tune, and we'll be premiering those over the next couple of weeks, beginning this morning with a refix from Fool's Gold's resident disco-house dude Treasure Fingers. Doing what he does best, TF adds some thick low-end and even more bouncy keys on top, conjuring something that sounds like Kavinsky doing the Buggles. Get into the tracks below, and make sure to come back on the next couple Mondays for more versions (including a few by some well-known Frenchmen.)

DOWNLOAD: Lillica Libertine - Tapedeck - Destiny (Knight Club Remix)
Imagine a Star Wars laser face-off on a dose of acid. Pretty ferocious. That's what the work of 19-year-old Nottingham UK club wonderkid Laurence Matthew Blake (the man behind the alliteration Lillica Libertine) resembles at times. However, on his remix of Tapedeck's single "Destiny," Lawrence chose to retain Tapedeck's 1970's disco whirl while layering on potent French house beats - the type that Daft Punk's Guy-Manuel De Homem-Christo made infamous. (Hence the call-out in the title to "Le Knight Club" - Guy-Man's side project.)
Since Lillica Libertine hasn't released his album Manhunt in the US yet, Tapedeck's own "Destiny" single isn't out till March, and the pound is mutilating the dollar, satiate cravings with the download below. (Plus, keep an eye out on L.L.'s Myspace for upcoming digi downloads.)
