Because Glasgow's Dolby Anol are best known for their seemingly endless stream of remixes (for everyone from the Gossip, The Futureheads and Chromeo to Kings of Leon and Farley Jackmaster Funk), it's makes sense their latest release is constructed largely from other people's sounds. Like a pack of pre-teens hopped on Pixie Sticks, "Heather, I'm Dry" stitches together a variety of vocal snippets at a hectic pace. Dolby Anol squeeze liquid bass lines into any gaps and line the chorus with fuzzy synth progressions. For something so hodgepodge it's incredibly cohesive and catchy. Kid606, whose label Tigerbass is releasing "Heather," provides his take as well. The same sonic threads are cut with stuttering edits and metallic house percussion, maintaining the energetic focus with rougher, more dance floor-ready pacing.

Unlike many spotlight-grabbing producers, Various Production are happy to lurk in the shadows. They offer almost no biography, an often confusing nom de plume and a wide breadth of sounds (dubstep, folk, electronic, ambient) found on their releases, just enough to egg listers to follow each new direction they take. So let's just focus on the release at hand, this exclusive extended take on their newest single, "Trycycle." The tune flits around like an impatient dragonfly, darting from place to place at a frantic pace to what sounds like a finely chopped and distorted violin sample. Warm, mutable bass tones sizzle and pop under Various Production's fleet-footed programming, nagging heads to nod and feet to shuffle. Those who waited until now to dip their toes into the dubstep pool should try "Trycycle" for a start and try to keep up with VP's enigmatic moves.
