So, the first of two Coachella festival weekends starts, well, now, and there are tons of acts performing and a lot of choices to make. Even if you're going to be enjoying the festival experience from your own couch, each year's lineup is a solid snapshot of a wide range of important music. This year, we've already previewed dance and rock in specific, but how about a mega playlist of our favorite (more underground) acts from the Coachella universe? PLAYLIST: The Saguaro Desert Weekender

New Booka Shade drops today
We've all been waiting for the third studio album from acclaimed electronic maestros and club bangers Booka Shade. We've been anticipating this record for so long that we even bought the live album and the accompanying DVD. (Yes, we at SEEN do buy music.) The release of ‘Movements Tour Edition’ with a new live DVD, "We Came To Dance", a show filmed at Belgium’s Pukkelpop Festival, kept us in good standing while we waited on the new album.
Their Coachella performance this year was hot. Having seen them in smaller venues it was nice to know they can rock out their giant hooks on huge festival stages. With their big sound and their big visuals it's clear why they often self refer to the cinematic feel and look of their sound. That might be why they've ended up in as many commercials and television shows as they have. Check out the above EPK for the new album where they also mention Eike König as a "very important for the visual side of Booka Shade".
The album, called "The Sun & The Neon Light", comes out on Get Physical. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy.

Portishead Returns for Coachella + Kling Klang Download
The buzz is all over the Internet. Portishead is releasing its third album after a long three-year absence. Released on April 28th, Geoff Barrow and Beth Gibbons have come together to produce the 11-track album simply called "Third". There's something poetic about the timing, but what's the significance of 3-3-3?
We're anticipating the big sound from Portishead's understated single -word track names like "Silence", "Plastic" and "Small". It's gonna be huge. For a preview of the album go to the Coachella Music Festival (April 25-27 at Empire Polo Field in Indio, Calif.) where Portishead will play their first show on American soil in nearly a decade! For the full line-up click here. If you were lucky enough to be in Europe this spring you'd be spoilt as Portishead were playing gigs in Portugal, Italy, UK, Germany, Denmark, The Netherlands, France and Brussels. We checked out the supporting acts on that tour and had never heard of the odd A Hawk and a Hacksaw, but we loved Liverpool's Kling Klang so much we got you all a download. Kling Klang describe themselves as "...5-piece heavy experimental synthesiser krautrock orchestra with amplified vintage synths, futuristic riffs, electric guitars and live drums".

If you're headed to the Winter Music Conference in Miami (March 25th - 29th), you might be lucky enough to catch some of legeandary DJ Sasha’s magic. We here at SEEN are very happy to be able to offer a pair of tickets to the opening night of the Sasha and John Digweed tour at Mansion in Miami along with tickets to a private event hosted by Sasha, with a screening of New Emissions Of Light And Sound, a beautiful surf movie that Sasha scored. Spooky will also be DJing this event. Launching March 27th, at the Winter Music Conference (see Sasha and John Digweed Return), their spring club tour brings the Sasha & John Digweed brand back to action and finishing with a headlining set in the dance tent at Coachella. If you get to see him play at any of the 21 dates this spring, then you might be lucky enough to hear some cuts from the highly anticipated "Involv2er" - he's rumored to be road testing it. We'll have an exclusive interview with Sasha on his return from the WMC in a couple of weeks and we’ll be talking about the spring tour, his score for New Emissions of Light and Sound, and what's up with "Involv2er".
