When I was a kid I'd come out of school and hear music like this blaring through the windows of teenage cars as early school leavers came to pick up their GCSE girlfriends. It confused me, but I liked it - those weird flying saucer sounds that warble like arguing aliens and the twitchy, itchy snares; the rush and pulse of the whole demented thing. Maybe Bass Clef liked those sounds too - his new album is peppered with tracks like this that move away from his usual trombone-guided exploits into something more recognisably bass-head. May the Bridges I Burn Light the Way is out on February 15 - breathe in its weirdo fumes.
