Work hard, play hard. I never got that dichotomy between stern bands who preached the virtues of labour and industry, but then made music that sounded like it could only have been made on a shitload of drugs. Where do you find the time? Do you combine both pursuits? And, if so, why haven't you been sacked yet? Maybe that's part of the fantasy – the bringing together of two foreign mindsets. Or maybe it's just that Dave I.D. and The Horrors' Tom Furse like taking the sort of drugs that make you wanna hang out in factories. Either way, this is a brutal, insidious acid-kraut creeper that eats night shift workers in their living sleep. Dave I.D.'s debut album, Response, will arrive through !K7 on June 13.

PREMIERE: Ronika & Lillica Libertine - Bricolage
Two of Nottingham, England's brightest lights team-up for this high-strung strut through electro-disco and acid-house territories: Ronika and Lillica Libertine's pulses aligning into the anxious, ecstatic throb that underpins "Bricolage". The former's debut EP arrives on April 19th, courtesy of her own RecordShop label.

Minimal is a tough beast to tame. Actually, "beast" probably isn't the best metaphor; it's more like a lingering, unkillable mosquito–tiny, weightless and seemingly impossible to grasp. It can be super, super boring or it can be enthralling by doing a lot with a little. Mike Mind's "Satellite Son" falls in with the latter. There's nothing more than a swamp-diving 303 and a drum machine, but it successfully tunnels your brain caves with those meager means. The rest of the Resonate EP, which is out now via our partners at Turbo, is streaming right here.

I always like it when remixers take the original track's intentions into account when fiddling with their own version. Take "First One" by Swedish producer Jens Loden, for example: an acidic wobbler at heart with a penchant for phased ticks and tucks, the track is carved into something more lithe and mobile by André Lodemann. Although its movements are more melodic and tech-house oriented, the burning darkness remains, just turned over and over by burbling delay. Two excellent sides to the same coin on Fine Art Recordings.

Even for Graham Massey, an acid house pioneer with 808 State, techno guru, prolific collaborator and multi-instrumentalist, his newest project is a step outside the norm. The Sister of Transistors is not just a band, but an outlet for Massey's addiction to buying 60s transistor organs on eBay and a social club for female synth enthusiasts. They meet at the South Manchester Museum of Keyboard Technology and hold weekly workshops, looking a bit like the above picture: Massey sitting in the middle, battering his drum set, while the ladies coax Italo-influenced melodies from their organs and sing along. Sounds like fun, right? The group's first single, "The Don," serves as a teaser to their forthcoming album, and offers an unexpected bridge between anthemic synth pop and Italo horror flick soundtracks. The single is rounded out by a rave-warped remix from L.A.'s Acid Girls, which honors Massey's role in the proliferation of sirens and glowsticks yet remains tastefully distorted and palatable.
Sounds like: Simian Mobile Disco, Tiga, Lindstrom
