RCRD OF THE DAY: Blake Lewis - Heartbreak On Vinyl (LA Riots Radio Edit)
Since his stint on American Idol in 2007 (where he lost in the final to Jordin Sparks), Blake Lewis has proven himself a particularly adept dance vocalist, flying over 4/4 tempos with unusual grace and moxie. Case in point: the title track from his new album, reworked here by California electro-house titans LA Riots, who infuse their usual array of gremlin-y low end, stroboscopic synths, and heavy, palpitating drums. Lewis' Heartbreak On Vinyl is out now through Tommy Boy.
