DOWNLOAD: Thundercat - Daylight (prod. Flying Lotus)

He's named after one of the best daytime cartoons of all time, he plays bass in Suicidal Tendencies, and his new album is produced by Flying Lotus. What is there not to like about Thundercat? The man otherwise known as Stephen Bruner made an appearance on last year's FlyLo album Cosmogramma, on standout glitch-soul track "Mmmhmm." Though "Daylight" shares that song's crystalline keyboards and a vibe that hearkens back to '70s jazz fusion, its odd time signatures and serpentine movements are coated in more polished, less compressed surfaces. But Thundercat's breathy, smooth vocals and webbed bass playing are still intact, so you can gain a clearer insight into what was going on beneath the murk. Nonetheless, this is by no means a predictable artist, and who knows what else we'll hear when The Golden Age Of Apocalypse, Thundercat's FlyLo-produced debut, drops August 30th on Brainfeeder.

Pollyn may be best known for their remixes of Gorillaz, HEALTH, and Liquid Liquid, but on the band's fourth and final remix EP, Shake Out the Other Way, it's the LA trio's own creations that are getting the old rerub. Here, LA's reigning king of glitch-hop, Nosaj Thing, turns in a turned down and diced-to-bits refix of one of Pollyn's gloomiest tunes, "Other Side." Pollyn's Shake EP arrives August 31 with more re-fried funk from Freddie Gibbs, James Pants, Them Jeans and Exile.

What does "korallreven" even mean? Enter Google Translate. And it appears that it's Swedish for "coral reefs," which, as a word that is foreign and mysterious and image-provoking if you are an intrepid Internet user, is a good band name for two dudes whose music sounds like snorkeling for vitamins. Marcus Joons and Daniel Tjäder have released only two songs as Korallreven; both appear on a 7-inch for Acéphale that's already sold out, but with the addition of some remixes have compiled a heftier digital release for those who missed out. Passes from CFCF and LOL Boys are below, CFCF's cradling like a slow-disco hammock, LOL Boys' tightrope walking a line between undanceable glitch confusion and danceable glitch euphoria. PREMIERE: The Glitch Mob - Beyond Monday + Drive It Like You Stole It

Posted by Hillary Kaylor

Something special this morning from knob-tweaking juggernauts The Glitch Mob—a tandem performance piece and non-album track premiere, plus the latest single from their forthcoming debut LP. First up, “Beyond Monday” is epic art--structured projection-mapping infusing ghostly light and neon life into industrial backdrops. Kind of like their music, right? Thank Brandon Hirzel (AKA Bemo) for helping the boys bring remixes (of their own live remixes) into meta-space. Then, “Drive It Like You Stole It” gets funky before bringing us home. Drink The Sea is out May 25, and you can sample a taste right here.

EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Primary 1 - Ploy (First Burn With Polly Brown)

It's fitting this song comes with a capture of the moment Primary 1's brain blew, 'cause "Ploy (First Burn With Polly Brown)" is the true sound of madness. Seriously, it's like three or four songs playing at once here; like Toro Y Moi's lo-fi pop without the haze, so douche-funk slap-bass juts out at awkward angles and horns toot like they're butting into a street argument. The first music to emerge from the imminent Mess Detective, Primary 1's debut 'proper' arrives next year. Fingers X'd the Londoner continues to descend into his own madness.

Sounds Like: Theo Parrish, Toro Y Moi, Hudson Mohawke

EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Kid606 - Mr. Wobble's Nightmare (Acid Jacks Remix) + Original

(Photo: Micke Lund)

Back in November, we introduced you to the glitchy, manic world of Kid606, the Venezuelan-born, California-reared producer and boss of the IDM-centric Tigerbeat6 label. On April 28th, he'll release a new album called Shout At The Doner, nominee for album title of the year and his first record since a move to Berlin from San Francisco. Preceding the release is the basslineish single "Mr. Wobble's Nightmare," which got the remix treatment from a bunch of up-and-comers for an EP last month, among them Australian "idiot house" duo Acid Jacks. Below you'll find their all-the-more-ravey version alongside the original, and if you want to get in on the action yourself the label is hosting a remix contest for the track right here.

Sounds like: Drop The Lime, Math Head, Boys Noize

Tags: electro, post-punk, rock, glitch

There's a purity to Asobi Seksu that makes you think it must be a blast remixing them. Twins, the alias of London producer/remixer Adam Jaffrey, takes the typically unspoiled original version of "Familiar Light" and subtly re-wires it, a saboteur scarring it with odd pockets of glitch and MOR disco throb. It could be love, but it's colder than that - romance as seen through the eyes of machinery, Yuki Chikudate's voice stuttering like a vibrator idly buzzing sweet nothings into an uncaring chasm.

Sounds Like: Crystal Castles, Fleetwood Mac, Annie

EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Eightcubed - Promise Me

Posted by Kev Kharas

Tags: electro, glitch, rave, disco

Yeah, he's a funny looking fella isn't he, this guy Eightcubed? Based in Toronto, Rob Esposito's "Promise Me" fizzes with the same spazzed-out mutations as those engineered by Crystal Castles and does, as the picture suggests, sound like musical accompaniment to a situation involving bare chests, jewellery, graffiti and rubble. Do you like rubble? Esposito eats it. The sound of the most recent past and east London circa '07, for all "Promise Me"'s acerbic bluster it ends up oddly nostalgic, the latest victory for retro-futurism.

Sounds Like: Crystal Castles, CFCF
