STREAM: Gui Boratto - This Is Not The End (Michael Mayer Remix)

(Photo: Mark Rabadan)
Ear massages ahead in Gui Boratto’s “This Is Not The End,” revised this fine day by fellow Kompakt sentry Michael Mayer into textural pools of indie, electropop and druggish electronica. The emotive quality of both artists’ musicianship blooms at every turn, from the sulking fuzz builds and amorphous taps to the lullaby vocals and stormy bass. Perfect for that sunrise over São Paulo. Or barring that, a good chillout for that crushing commute home. May 7 is when the remix package drops proper, though Gui’s latest LP is already available for your calming dance needs right here.
PREMIERE: Machinedrum - TMPL
Brooklyn producer Machinedrum is prepping his first full-length for Planet Mu, and we get to provide a first taste by premiering the track "TMPL." Filled with intricate, jackhammer drums and sharp, descending chords, this is busy house music warped into 21st century sonics. A little dubstep, a little hip-hop, a little ambient, a little jungle, a little Chicago footwork, Machinedrum, real name Travis Stewart, makes dance music with immediacy from a pile of disparate parts and ideas. His new album, Room(s), arrives July 25.
PREMIERE: Teej - Slow Motion Summit
Teej's new four track Thirst EP was made in a bunker this winter in the snow-dappled mountains of Japan, which I guess makes him Bon Iver if he snowboarded and played more computer games. Delirious with restless glitches and synth sugar, "Slow Motion Summit" is the lead track from Thirst, the rest of which can be found here, now, for free. A debut 7" will arrive through Make Mine (Gold Panda, Suckers) in June and you can see a video for this here track after the jump.
DOWNLOAD: Pantha Du Prince - The Splendour

Once known for drawing from ‘80s shoegaze and Detroit-tech, Pantha du Prince is now heralded as a critical darling whose icy German soundscapes compose the future of minimalist techno. His latest record is nothing less than a spectral ride through the tundra and features Panda Bear, Tyler Pope of !!! and LCD Soundsystem, who plays bass on “The Splendour” below. Black Noise is out now through Rough Trade and can (and should) be picked up right here.

EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Alcoholic Faith Mission - Nut In Your Eye + Time

Titling must be tough for melancholic Danes, so we’ll give Alcoholic Faith Mission a break, particularly as they’re so good at twitchy dreampop. Below, two different tastes off their Brooklyn-named record (crafted entirely in their Brooklyn loft)—one ragged with vulnerable vocals over piano clang, the other haunted by horns and feedback. Both are claustrophobic: beautiful alloys of muted electronica and pop. Yet one is named “Nut In Your Eye.” Yeah, we thought of Stifler too. 421 Wythe Avenue is out through PonyRec now.

EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Owl City - Fireflies (Marlow Remix)

Poor Adam Young. His "Fireflies" have barely had the chance to shine their precious lights 'pon the world before someone comes along and tries to 'make it dubstep'. To be fair to Marlow, things could have been a lot murkier, more vicious - his remix retains Owl City's gape-mouthed piano burblings and the swooning noises that come out of Young's mouth are hardly messed with. Will dub ever step this wholesome again? No, not even if FWD gets a guardian angel for Christmas.

EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Primary 1 - Ploy (First Burn With Polly Brown)

It's fitting this song comes with a capture of the moment Primary 1's brain blew, 'cause "Ploy (First Burn With Polly Brown)" is the true sound of madness. Seriously, it's like three or four songs playing at once here; like Toro Y Moi's lo-fi pop without the haze, so douche-funk slap-bass juts out at awkward angles and horns toot like they're butting into a street argument. The first music to emerge from the imminent Mess Detective, Primary 1's debut 'proper' arrives next year. Fingers X'd the Londoner continues to descend into his own madness.

EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Comanechi - Rabbit Hole (Becoming Real Remix)

Bubbling bong water. Screaming children. Duelling music boxes. A pregnant mouse. You can make hit records out of anything these days - listen close enough to Becoming Real's remix of "Rabbit Hole" and you'd probably be able to hear Amelia Earhart banging the holy grail against the rusted tin bonnet of an alien craft. If you long hard for guitars amid this nouveau sonic melee, find them in full force on Comanechi's enraged new album Crime Of Love.
