PREMIERE: Zambri - Heather

There has been a resurgence of Kate Bush-inspired ladies lately, though few are doing it with the vocal prowess of Zambri. Sisters Cristi Jo and Jessica Zambri take the electro goth charge one step further, using largely their own smoky, synth-sounding vocals to build the intricate crescendos of tracks such as "Heather." Lyrics like "call me Heather or whatever but just for tonight" add a sassy kick to the experimental hiss beneath them. Grab debut EP Glossolalia November 8 on Kanine

EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Kimono Kops - Upstairs At Erica's

Classic electro pop, stand up! For those that love the amorous fun of Yaz, Erasure, early Duran Duran, hell, even Ace Of Base, German producer Thomas Dören--bka Kimono Kops--has your back.  Earlier this week Dören sent over the fluffy pastel joint "Upstairs At Erica's," a track we weren't totally sold on until it fully unfolded its jaunty chorus, where singer Klara Fall pines lovingly to her upstairs neighbor Clara under some cheap Casio strings and playful programming. There is also a pretty shredding guitar solo in the bridge. Seriously. Risky business, this electro pop stuff, but this one is a gem.

CMJ: DOWNLOAD: The Bodega Girls - She's Into Black Guys

Every once in a while you stumble upon a dance party club song and you're pretty sure it's going to get dropped during sweaty hipster dance parties for months to come and people might not know what that song is, but they will like it and they will dance.  I just never thought that song could come from Boston.  The Bodega Girls are a 4-some from my home town - usually known more for aggressive sports fans than groups who write lines like, "an unadulterated penetration into the gaping hole of the sicko's soul" in their bio.  The opening line on their MySpace page just says, "we'll play your party," and you can be fairly certain they will take your "party" and make it a "PARTY."  The Bodega Girls play Europa on Thursday so head on down and listen to the song we've got on RCRD LBL today.  Apparently Bodega Girls = Political Correctness.

Why aren't there more full-on chick electro bands? Especially ones that spit out pumping electro music with playful beats and lyrics that spew cheeky venom. Take Legoparty. In their song "Alarm," they state seductively "We are the children of mistakes.......and we won't let you run away...." The whole thing sounds a bit as though Ladytron took a dose of uppers and added some more Go Team! esque cheerleading.....check it. If you dig it and all other forms of electronica, and happen to be in Europe, they will be performing at  Les Ardentes Festival in Liege Belgium this week.

With the upcoming Yaz world reunion tour approaching, tensions are running high here at the RCRD LBL HQ: will the duo live up to what we have essentially been waiting for most of our adult life? After watching the awesome video for "Nobody's Diary" for the 1000th time, the answer is yes, undoubtedly YES!

Summer. Ice pops. Water fights. Dodge-ball in the park. Electro-tinged pop. It's about this time of year we bring in the real guilt-free F*-all songs. That's where Walter Meego comes in. The Chicago-based DJ duo Justin Sconza and Colin Yarck craft low-tempo and breezy electro Pop (with a capital P) that is infectious. Like first it's your foot tapping, and then your head, and by the end of the day, you feel the ridiculous urge to go pick up a old-school 1963 sea green convertible, suit up in white linens and ray-bans, roll the top down, and cruise down to Miami with this tune "Forever" pulsing to your ears and a pina colada on the mind.

DOWNLOAD: Paige 3 - Prophets (Frankmusik remix)

Frankmusik (né Vincent Frank), is a fire hot electro pop producer out of Croydon, UK. We first got into him about a year ago when we came across his MySpace and fell in love with “Three Little Words”, a high octane pop song that sounded like Panic at the Disco ripping off Simply Red at warp speed (we know that that hardly sounds like a reason to listen to a song, but trust us, it is). As well as writing and producing his own work under the Frankmusik moniker, FM is also known to remix whatever suits is fancy, and today we’re releasing one of those tracks. You wouldn’t necessarily think that an American emo band (in this case, Paige 3) and a British electro producer would go hand in hand, but it works—Frankmusik reworks “Prophets” with his signature glitchy, sugary synths and manic drum machine. Frank just got a slot on the Popjustice Wonky Pop tour and his debut album is in the works, so believe us when we say keep an eye on this one.

DOWNLOAD: Kimono Kops - Eine Lesbische Liebe

Kimono Kops, a.k.a. Thomas Dören, is a German dance producer who has single-handedly restored our faith in electro-pop—kind of like the first time we heard Erasure or Bronski Beat. Kimono Kops first blasted onto our radar when we heard his mind-blowing remix of Sally Shapiro's "Hold Me So Tight", which somehow managed to make the song even more italo disco. Since he’s done remixes for Bloc Party, M.I.A., Goldfrapp, and others, and his music always crafts a bouncy, fun, dancey universe where synth lines are the main focus of life and everything is totally delectable and three minutes long. Today though, we are releasing one of his artist tracks, which is just as compelling as his remix work: the dreamy “Eine Lesbische Liebe”, which mixes samples of acoustic guitars and German spoken word to make an electronic patchwork that’s somewhere between Mirwais, Air and The Field. It’s kind of magical.
