Piety means different things to different people. It can be reverence or righteousness or pejorative self-righteousness. It really depends on both the context and beholder. Whatever your personal feelings on religion/spirituality/God, you can appreciate the intention of an artist invoking his or her own beliefs in pursuit of more meaningful, celebratory or even intensely-dark expression.
Yet again, the rapture never happened, but it's still wise to enjoy some of 2012’s most pious tracks from those most zealous of zealots – rappers (and Frank Ocean).
Gunplay - Bible On The Dash
Frank Ocean - Bad Religion
Tree ft. Rogizz - Chuch
Domo Genesis - Till The Angels Come ft. Freddie Gibbs & Prodigy
Future - Deeper Than The Ocean
Main Attrakionz - Love Is Life
Meek Mill - Amen ft. Drake & Jeremih
Schoolboy Q - Blessed ft. Kendrick Lamar
