The music of British twosome You Love Her Coz She's Dead is just as cheeky as their name. Loaded with obscenely colorful melodies rendered in 8-bit chunks and played at breakneck speeds, the pair's tunes attempt to recapture the glory of conquering King Koopa or that really hard level in Contra in short, chipper bursts. "Superheroes," their debut single for nu-rave tastemakers Kitsune, bursts with Bubble Bobble synth lines as YLHCSD howl and coo. Cute, catchy and more addictive than Zelda.

Sounds like: Crystal Castles, The Presets, Uffie

We love documentaries about obscure eras in music (have you guys seen Made in Sheffield? Epic) and Reformat the Planet, a new film about the birth of 8-bit music, has shot right to the top of our Netflix queue. It’s so inspiring that this scene was born out of a medium that, in the beginning, people were worried would hinder people’s creativity.
