EXCLUSIVE DOWNLOAD: Hot Club De Paris with Maps and Atlases - The Dice Just Wasn't Loaded From the Start

Hot Club De Paris are many things, but straightforward has never been one of them. Hence why their debut 7" was entitled "sometimesitsbetternottostickbitsofeachotherineachotherforeachother", or their upcoming record, Live at Dead Lake, isn’t really a live record at all. When Hot Club came out with their first album, Drop It ‘Til It Pops, they were one of the only bands salvaged from the post-Libertines Britpop explosion that still had some umph going on, partially due to the fact that they were signed to ultimate purveyors of indie cool Moshi Moshi Records. Now, on the eve of their sophomore release, they’re still on top of their game: the single we’re releasing today, an exclusive track off Live at Dead Lake called “The Dice Just Wasn’t Loaded From the Start” is a short ‘n’ sweet ditty featuring a cool acoustic guitar riff and awesome vocal harmonies. "The Dice..." is a collaboration with Dave Davison of Chicago band Maps and Atlases, a song brought out of confinement (the lyrics were written years earlier) when HCDP were recording new material in the Windy City. It’s in the same vein as their earlier work, which means we can easily expect one of the most interesting indie records of 2008.

Sounds like XTC, The Maccabees, The Futureheads
