Jennifer Cardini is officially a member of the Kompakt clan, a sort of Parisian branch of the legendary Koln posse. Having been the resident DJ at French superclubs like Pulp and Le Rex, she has moved onto superstar status--next month she plays Watergate (Berlin), Morphine (Madrid) and, of course, the coolest club in the entire world, Fabric (London).
That is to say, she's not a practicing musician as much. Leave that to Shonky, who not only DJs (at, say, Weetamix in Geneva which, now that I think about it, is cooler than Fabric) but also produces for labels like Freak n'Chic, Sub Static and Resopal Red. Shonky is no stranger to international travel, either. He recently appeared in Williamsburg at the best curated dance night in America: The Bunker.
From the well-loved Mobilee imprint, "August in Paris" is beautiful techno music. It blossoms like a flower and when Cardini's vocals finally arrive, it's a revelation.
