York City apartments, lacking the gear to plug into. The Lords went electric though - realizing they were more Fun House than Sweetheart of the Rodeo, more Beggar's Banquet than Honky Tonk Heroes, more London Calling than Live from Newport Folk Festival.
Young Lords are a modern rock and roll band whose sound pays homage to the past as a vehicle to blaze into the future. The Lords fuse Rock and Punk and Country aesthetics into raucous rock and roll anthems for the new youth generation.
Lead singer Blair Van Nort and guitarist/brother Reed Van Nort met bassist Maxwell Kamins during nights on the town and enlisted guitarist Adam Gerard and drummer Anthony LaMarca after meeting in classes at the New School University.
Hailing from Austin, Texas, Ohio and New York, the five-piece have played sold out shows at Irving Plaza opening for the Fratelli's and Knitting Factory’s main stage with VietNam. The Lords have supported other notable bands like the Like, the Willowz, the Blue Van and the Shys. The've played shows at high profile New York parties like Club NME, Shindig! and Tiswas and also played five shows and parties at last years SXSW.
In addition to winning an unsigned band contest in JANE magazine, Young Lords have been chosen for the latest Converse print campaign. Other music profiles have included, features in Nylon, Elle, L’Uomo Vogue and Anthem magazine. Baeble Music recorded a live concert feature in May with Young Lords and The Dead Combo at the Luna Lounge, which is now available for online download.
The band recorded a single “Turn It Up” to be released on Vacancy Records with the production team of Neal Casal and Tom Schick (Ryan Adams, Norah Jones) at The Magic Shop. Currently Young Lords are working on material for their debut album with Matt Boynton at his new studio Vacation Island in Brooklyn.
