  • Bio: YOKO ONO is a force of nature. She is also one of the most important, enduring and controversial artists of the last half-century. For more than four decades, Yoko has breathed life into a brilliant body of musical work. Initially, this fact was only grasped by listeners at the fringes but the last decade has finally seen a serious re-evaluation of her as an artist and musician.

Her uncanny ability to deliver genuinely avant-garde statements to a mainstream world has become the foundation, thrust and hallmark of her ambitious remix campaign series. Since 2001, Yoko’s alter-electronic ego, ONO, has been pumping out revamped reworks of classics from her vast catalog to deliver compelling interpretations for the 21st Century that have been heralded and embraced by a new digital generation of enthusiastic music hipsters worldwide.

Partnering with cutting edge producers and collaborators such as FLAMING LIPS, PET SHOP BOYS, BASEMENT JAXX, DANNY TENAGLIA, SPIRITUALIZED, CSS, FELIX DA HOUSECAT, ANTONY AND THE JOHNSONS and PEACHES, ONO has ingeniously transformed from vilified outsider to renowned performance-art innovator, uncompromising counter-culture revolutionary, influential punk rock pioneer and chart-topping dance/electronic-music heroine.

To date, the series has spawned two critically-acclaimed collections, YES, I’M A WITCH and OPEN YOUR BOX, and 6 #1 Billboard dance singles to date including “I’M NOT GETTING ENOUGH”, “GIVE PEACE A CHANCE”, “NO NO NO” (the #4 Billboard Dance record of the DECADE), “EVERYMAN / EVERYWOMAN” her seminal “WALKING ON THIN ICE”, and now "GIVE ME SOMETHING", demonstrating the continuing vitality and versatility of her work.

With such phenomenal successes, it appears that the world has finally caught up with the perennial groundbreaking icon who’s been affectionately rebranded “warm and inviting” (Pitchfork), “truly vital” (Rolling Stone) and “the grand matriarch of cool” (BBC). (less)
