Bio: Water Borders, aka amitai (heller) and loric (sih), met in Santa Cruz, California, and began recording as water borders in a moldy san francisco garage in late 2009. They loved coil, gamelans, reverb, swirling synths, thumping kicks and sub-bass and thus set out to make the music they heard in their heads. Sometimes they sang, sometimes they asked friends to sing. Part synth body music, part hauntology, part modern epic - they still, and always will, record amongst the mice and the mold.
The lyrical themes are narrative, often conveying allegorical stories. Akko is a song about two men engaged in dangerous and taboo sexual liasons. Rome is a song about feral cats roaming ruins.
The band have recently put out a limited CD-R on Disaro (Salem, White Ring, OooOo, etc.) and have a tape release in the works. Hungry for Power discovered this west coast gem and are proud to present this 12" release. The label was started by the collective behind the Brighton clubnight 13monsters whose members include the founders of the 20JazzFunkGreats blog and half of the DIY label Sex Is Disgusting.
Rome features their friend Glasser guesting on vocals. (less)
