Hailing from Olympia but taking their name from a backpacking mecca just west of Lake Tahoe, Desolation Wilderness are yet another local gem that's been uncovered by the sonic braintrust over at K Records. They've got a sun-dappled LP by the name of White Light Strobing out next Tuesday and "Come Over In Your Silver Car" is one of its many winners. Stretching out over five glorious minutes of guitar necking, vibraphone and requisite echo, it's a pop song in no hurry. Such grace.
