- Bio: As one half of Deep Teknologi, West London-based Tesfa Williams – T.Williams for short – has been slaying dancefloors for some time with his unique brand of experimental UK house music, heading up a label of the same name.
Following an acclaimed release on Local Action Records, co-founded by Phonica, next month sees T drop ‘Getting Mine’ on pioneering Portugese collective Buraka Som Sistema’s Enchufada label. You can hear more than a touch of their kuduro influence in the track, seeping into the infectious percussion and raw club sound, and even more so on the pounding ‘Drumstrumental’ version.
The builds and breakdowns in ‘Getting Mine’ are subtle but no less intense, with the track sounding as at home in deep house sets as it does in the hands of one of the many ‘post-dubstep’ purveyors we’re seeing more and more of in these boundary-smashing times (think Cooly G, Ikonika and more.)
Indeed, drawing fans from the likes of fellow envelope-pushers Sinden, Kode9, Brackles, Night Slugs and more, this is not to be missed. (less)
