Available as a Ltd Edition 7” vinyl and digital download, the single provides a welcome blast of warm summer noise through it’s hazy rushes of uplifting synths, driving guitars and the distinctive vocal twists that define their sound.
Hailing from Hertfordshire, Safari contains members of the now defunct Model Horror, who released two singles on the Fake DIY label and gained support from many a portal of upcoming talent including NME, Radio 1 (Zane Lowe, Steve Lamacq, Huw Stephens - Maida Vale session), Artrocker and The Fly. The 6 months since their formation has seen Safari make the leap from the ‘dark disco’ of their former band to embrace a soundscape of glorious technicolour encompassing diverse influences and creative intuition. What started out as three college friends practicing in a disused school, soon progressed into a band caught up in the strobe lights of the post Klaxon’s wave, sharing stages with the likes of Crystal Castles and Late of the Pier, before arriving at a place that now finds a group in the first throws of their twenties with a clear vision of how to distil the world around them into distinctive audio snap-shots.
The B-side of the single will be a remix of the phenomenal ‘Hold my Head’, a further track which is taken from the band’s debut album due later in the year. There will also be an exclusive free remix of ‘Quicksand’ made available only through select web sites and blogs. Both of these have been masterminded by acclaimed producer ‘Matty Moon’ who continues his exciting form building on recent remixes for Esben and the Witch, and Grammatics.
Having already played to a packed out Hoxton Bar & Kitchen on only their sixth show, Safari will be playing select dates before limbering up for a journey around the summer festivals. (less)
