  • Bio: Purveyor of intelligent dance music, Rival Consoles is 23-year old Ryan Lee West from Leicester in the Midlands of England. Rival Consoles first appeared two years ago with an EP released on London-based Erased Tapes. After having supported his city neighbours and label comrades Kyte on an extensive European tour in November 2008, West locked himself away all winter to finish his first full-length album 'IO', out in North America today once again on Erased Tapes (Ólafur Arnalds, Peter Broderick)!

With unusual influences from impressionists such as Claude Debussy and modern electronic artists such as Autechre and Daft Punk, Ryan Lee West has created a unique signature sound for Rival Consoles. Aside from extensive touring throughout Europe, West has repeatedly performed at the Tate Britain Museum in London, where he's drawn over 2000 visitors into his unpredictable, yet detailed sound drawings.

In February 2007 West released and toured the more quirky 'Vemeer EP' under his second musical alias Aparatec, which sold like hot cakes and earned him IDM, acid and electro fans alike. New York composer and film scorer Nico Muhly (known for scoring the Oscar-nominated film The Reader and his work with Bjork and The National), Daniel James aka Canon Blue from Nashville as well as fellow countrymen The British Expeditionary Force are amongst the first to receive West's trademark remixes. Icelandic neo-classical prodigy Ólafur Arnalds, a huge fan of West's work, also asked him to be part of his new minimal techno side project KIASMOS.
