- Bio: "Concentric Circles" is rooted in sound design and orchestration within melodic emphasis not typical in bass music. On the record, Nate Mars enlists several MC's and vocalists including Dub War resident Juakali, Noble Society Singer/Dutty Artz artist Jahdan Blakkamoore, UK Grime artist Nika D of Virus Syndicate, as well as Global Underground artist Sissy and roots reggae songwriter Junior Culture.
"I am so thankful to all of the collaborators on this record," says Mars. "Working with them has really allowed me to embrace a lot of the things I wanted to do creatively. There are certain elements I focus on when making instrumental tracks but working with all of these artists allowed for a certain crucial songwriting approach as well."
While not quite a veteran, Mars is hardly new to the Dubstep/Bass Music scene. His song "Above & Beyond Dem" feat. Jahdan Blakkamoore was licensed by UK label/Club Fabric in 2009 and his track "Higher To The Bass" was recently included on the compilation "Stateside Steppas" alongside the likes of Subswara, Eskmo, EPROM, Freeland, DZ and more.
Nate's debut album, "Concentric Circles," is the result of his many years of producing genre-bending music of all kinds. Growing up with a background in classical music playing upright bass, thoughts of orchestration were planted in his brain early on. It was in the late 90’s when he began to experiment with production using an old PC laptop in the woods of upstate NY. As time went on, Nate began to produce jungle followed by forrays into dancehall and dubstep. All of his work includes emphasis on sound design based endeavors, and a 4G sample instrument based on his production tools is currently in progress.
After coming off the road from gigs at the SXSW music festival in Austin this past March with DreadBass Soundsystem, a live act featuring Mars, Juakali and San Francisco based producer, Kush Arora, plans are being made to tour for the release of Concentric Circles in the US/Europe for late summer 2010.
