Bio: Mr. Dream are a three-piece punk band from Brooklyn. They make sardonic rock music in the vein of the Pixies, McLusky, and Rapeman, to the acclaim of critics at the Village Voice, Stereogum, RCRD LBL, and the Fader. The band formed in 2008, released their first EP on God Mode Records in 2009 (Mr. Dream Goes To Jail), and in 2010 put out the cult hit No Girls Allowed EP, along with two digital singles: "Scarred For Life" and "Learn The Language". Mr. Dream's forthcoming full-length, Never Elaborate, will be out in early 2011.
"Learn The Language" is the second single from Never Elaborate. The song is a love letter to the proto-industrial Chicago punk sound of the early 80s. It was recorded and mixed by Nick Sylvester, who also plays drums, and features Adam Moerder on vocals, whose snarling performance builds on previous outings on "Knuckle Sandwich" and "Knick Knack". Bassist Matt Morello holds down bass duties, supplying the low-end that somehow never seemed to be there in those early Chi-Town efforts.
