The result is a new album, 'Let's Go to Baba's', a collection of songs that reflect both the joy of communion and the introspection of separation. These songs were written and arranged in the moments when everyone could be together, with no one songwriter reigning supreme. As the narrator in the song "Lou Reed Says" reveals, "If you write songs, you can sing songs. If you don't write songs, you can't sing songs."
Mittens on Strings are a crafty bunch, reveling in the homemade appeal of every artistic endeavor they undertake. From the on-the-fly demos and trial-and-error debut 'Look Up the Sky!!' (Emperor Jones), to the self-produced opus 'Let's Go to Baba's'. From one-of-a-kind homemade t-shirts, to the in-progress plan of making shoe-string-budget music videos for each song of their new record. Doing it themselves, doing it together, doing it right.
