The group's frontwoman Jennifer Pearl croons her scarred-heart incantations as if seduction were a stiletto dragged across a pretty throat, while exploding Nuggets riffs with punk aplomb against a musical backdrop as ghastly stark and eerie as the hills and alleys of Fante's Los Angeles.
