  • Bio: Jon Yeager’s move to Nashville has brought him many things. A beer with Robert Plant, a weird night with a girl with one leg and he’s accomplished waking up in more front yards in 3 months than most people probably ever will. Yeager recently transplanted himself from his
longtime home of Kansas City to Nashville. This change brought forth the inspiration for Jon Yeager and the Black Magic Mass EP. Yeager has always strived for a classic sound, but the recent combination of demo sessions in the basement of a church, the “Candle In The Dark” video (Minnow Records) and this new EP he finds
himself sounding as much like a classic soul artist as a re‐inventor of Beatles pop like in the past. Initially the move was spurred by friend Ben Grimes (ex Golden Republic/ Astralwerks) to collaborate and work on his new project Soft Reeds. Upon arriving in Nashville, Jon began to focus inward, writing and recording the four songs that make up Jon Yeager and the Black Magic Mass. Yeager tracked the entire EP himself at Coat of Arms Studio in East Nashville, with the assistance of Andy Putnam on saxophone. Before the transition Jon Yeager had made quite the name for himself in Kansas City. In the early part of the decade he headed up the local heroes The Daybirds. In 2005, he decided to stake it out with his first solo EP release, Truth & Volume. This release was “sweetly
restrained and seductive, catchy but not trite, harking back to a time when there was no line between mainstream and indie” (‐The Pitch Weekly). In 2007, he released his debut full length Foi (fwah, french for faith). “Foi provides every reason to place faith in the power of pop songs to entertain on a fundamental level, but to also trust a talented songwriter as an interpreter of emotion and experience within the space of a few minutes...” (Present Magazine). Now in 2009 he brings you Jon Yeager and the Black Magic Mass. (less)
