Bio: The last time we saw Joe And Will Ask? was a whole year ago. They were releasing their Mongozo EP, filled to the brim with dark, heavy, distorted club bangers. Back again, 18th August see’s the release of their new single Rainbow Trout which is set to firmly cement their position as one of the best new club acts to emerge from the depths of East London.
Locked in their recording studio for the past year under new management, the pair have slaved away to produce two tracks worth the wait. “It's a summery release, and the tracks are bigger and more dramatic than our usual sound. We feel like we've improved a hell of a lot technically - these tracks sound so much bigger in our DJ sets than our previous work. Rainbow Trout is a contrast between big-room dance chords and growling speaker, shattering bass whilst Man The Cannons is jump up and get down electro house with a slightly medieval undertone.”
Techno has always been the boys engine, but with this release they slipped out of they…., “We listen to techno for hours every day, and elements of Techno creep into our production, but the big summery house tracks inspired the cheekiness of the tracks. Also, we like to see Rainbow Trout as homage to Chemical Brothers - Saturate. We also looked back to some of our favourite trance classics like Art of Trance – Madagascar.”
So what’s next, I hear you ask? “We have been working towards completing our album. Alongside the album, we will launch a completely new, and hopefully amazing live show. In the meantime we have some huge dance records to unleash! We are also working out ways to tie in Will's fashion designing with our music.”
