songs at the age of 18. Much of his music is built on classic blues and folk music and the release of his debut album, the first songs, raised a genuine appreciation from the critics of his driving guitar playing and his rare vocal.
Inspired by the late English folk scene and 30’s American blues, Carelius proves to be a fresh breath of conservatism upon the stage, with a special nerve in both his singing & his playing.
As a modest man, his characteristic voice soon became his own trademark; “ I always were very uncomfortable singing out loud. With a constant feeling that I couldn’t sing, I was terrified that the neighbours would hear me. So I sang in the lowest volume I could. His vocals often resemble an older man, as a young man with an old voice. His lyrics is strangely poetic, and gathers the ache of loneliness and longing, all written down with a certain young naive ness. The quality in his writing stands out, you’ll listen to a young talent already on it’s way.
He recorded his debut album during summer 2007. 12 songs represented only by Carelius & his guitar. The whole thing was recorded in 2 day into a 2-track Tandberg player, lent from his father.
