  • Bio: HOWLIES (Atlanta, GA) have created an infectious, unexpected sound that is equal parts '60s garage, ATL crunk, and doo-wop.
Howlies formed in August 2007, after a group camping trip where all four members were attacked by wolves. Based upon basement recordings only, the band quickly secured the praise and producing duties of legendary producer Kim Fowley (The Runaways, The Modern Lovers, The Germs) for their debut album, Trippin' with Howlies. The album is scheduled for a Fall 2008 release on OverUnder Records (New York, NY), with the Sea Level single/EP, releasing in August 2008.
Howlies' rabid live performances are, in large part, the result of band members growing up together in Destin, Florida before moving to Atlanta, where they live together and have played in various music projects. As drummer Aaron Wood puts it, "Howlies are what would have happened if Guns 'n' Roses had listened to more Chuck Berry".
The "Sea Level" Single/EP is Howlies' first official release, and contains two tracks--Sea Level and Dirty Woman--from their forthcoming full-length debut album, plus the track Baby Shakes (Acoustic Version). Both the Single/EP and the full-length album were recorded in Spring 2008 with Kim Fowley in Loma Linda, California. Wanting to capture the band's raging live performance, Kim recorded the band live and to tape in less than three days. The result, according to Kim, is a "vinyl-inspired analog raid on the ProTools present".
Howlies: Aaron Wood (drums, vocals), Justin Brooke (guitar, vocals), Brandon Morrison (guitar, vocals), Matt Forsee (bass, vocals) (less)
