  • Bio: Hearts Of Darknesses is the solo project of electronic music producer Frank Musarra, best known to date for his production work with friend and collaborator Gregg Gillis aka Girl Talk. After the massive success of Gillis' 2006 album "Night Ripper," Musarra and Gillis started the project Trey Told 'Em to focus on remixes and production work. Their works have included remixes for Simian Mobile Disco, Tokyo Police Club, and Of Montreal. Most recently, they were commissioned to do a mash-up mix CD for Thrill Jockey Records' 15th Anniversary, featuring over 50 Thrill Jockey artists in 70 minutes.

Over the past year, when he could find time in between Trey Told 'Em projects, Musarra was busy in the studio crafting a solo album under the name Hearts Of Darknesses. While the production is as lush and engaging as you might expect from a laptop whiz like Musarra, this solo album is a somewhat of a departure from the typical Trey Told 'Em style, as Musarra chose to focus on good old fashioned rock'n'roll songwriting. The result is an album of catchy dance-rock tunes meticulously tweaked and crafted by the self-described "studio nerd" and "Nirvana fanatic."

Now having recently completed the album, Musarra has shifted his focus onto assembling a live band for touring, as Gillis has invited Hearts of Darknesses to join him on a nationwide tour this October in support of the brand new Girl Talk album entitled "Feed the Animals".

Hearts Of Darknesses is surely a band to watch this fall, with a 12" EP and a digital single due on two very happening record labels (Sweden's "Deleted Art Records", home of No Age, and the online label "RCRDLBL"). These two releases coincide with the fall tour with Girl Talk, a killer combo which will no doubt whet peoples' appetites for the release of the full-length Hearts Of Darknesses LP early next spring.
