Shrouded in mystery, there is little info out there on the elusive Swiss-based, North African Ghebrezghi Gabriel AKA Gab AKA Ghostape.
Here's what we know…Many U.S listeners first heard Ghostape when his vocal was featured on the Canberra born, swiss raised, berlin based Plastique de Reve's Death From Abroad release ' Lost In The City'. Right around this time DFA released Panthers 'Goblin City' 12" featuring Run Roc Remix and Holy Ghost! Remix. In 2009 Ghostape contacted Run Roc's Dennis McNany to collaborate on a track and the 'Beautiful' collaboration came to be.
Ghostape creates music that lives in the space of antagonism between cheap instrumentals and elaborated, often surreal vocal arrangements. The track 'Beautiful' delivers a dreamy pop hook over classic Run Roc production of swelling synths and strings and walls of droning harmonies. Hum-a-long avant-garde. (less)
