- Bio: Fields of Industry began in 1999 as a 4-track recording project of singer/guitarist Joshua Barton, circulating cassettes amongst friends in Mid-Michigan. Barton assembled a band for live performance to support Fields of Industry's self-titled debut in 2003, followed by the 2005 EP Dogs and the 2008 full-length Two Dogs, A Television, which received critical acclaim from NPR's Robin Hilton as well as local music magazines and blogs.
Through several lineup changes, the band has revolved around the core of Barton, guitarist Eric Gallippo and bassist Joel Schrauben. The band filters Barton's somber and heartfelt songs through layers of shoegaze-tinged rock and a simple, folk sensibility.
Fields of Industry has a full-length album due from Cerberus Records in 2008.
The band, together with friends and former band members now in New York, founded the Arts Vs Entertainment label in 2007. (less)
