from a band called Das Pop. 'At sixteen, we played prog-rock,' admits Bent. 'Bongo-laced, violin-fuelled prog-rock, to be exact...' It wasn't long, however, before their sound grew into something altogether more accessible and Das Pop was born.
'Fool For Love' is the first single from their forthcoming eponymous album, produced by the Soulwax brothers, David & Stephen Dewaele. Imagine Franz Ferdinand in the hands of Holland & Dozier and you're getting close to the kind of hot rhythms and classic styling this record has to offer. Bent delivers a killer vocal and the band provide entertainment on the finest level, jam-packed with timeless dancefloor nous. They are your new favourite band.
Remixes come with a distinctive Parisian flavour. Young guns Yuksek & Brodinski provide the heavy-weight club damage while Ed Banger's master of beats, SebastiAn, eshews his usual razor-sharp rhythms for a super-chic treatment of grand piano and butt-shaking beats. Finally Belgium's soon-to-be-kings of Cosmic, Aeroplane, bring home the kind of blissed-out-yet-great-on-the-floor workout that makes you think that 2008 will be like 1989 all over again.
